Recommend me a foundation/tinted moisturiser

Hi all

I’m looking for a lightweight, glowy, ( Ideally long lasting) Foundation - under this bracket I include BBs, cCs, tinted moisturiser etc anything that Is a foundationy type thing! 😂

I used Estee Lauder double wear standard foundation for years but now I find it too heavy (I haven’t tried their lighter version so interested to hear about it) then I moved on to Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser which I was really happy with until they changed their formula and it is sooooo orange now, so I am looking out for something else. ive also tried wake me up foundation from boots (rimmel?) in the past and found them ok but wasn’t blown away.

I watched pampered wolf’s video on Trinny makeup last night and almost stocked up until I read the threads on here which tell a really different story. I really liked the fact she used the bff then just used a little of their just a touch where needed but again seeing the threads on here I’m not convinced that without her know how/techniques etc I wouldn’t be wasting my money.

I’m lucky to have very clear, fair skin but it’s on the dry side so I don’t need a lot of coverage and like a fairly natural look with a bit of glow (and of course I have a few lines and dark circles to deal with!) 😊

Really keen to hear some suggestions on what to try. Xx

Oooh have just seen the thread above about high street foundations. I might have a look at No7 hydroluminous. Does it last well (as in stay put for a long time)?

Also still keen to see recommendations for other non high street brands that fit description above.

I quite like No. 7 tinted moisturisers

ButIDontWantto · 07/02/2020 15:10

No 7 BB cream is good.

Annasgirl · 07/02/2020 15:11

I bought NO.7 Protect and Perfect Serum foundation - I was a LM fan too but this is as good if not better and the colour match was amazing. It has warmed my skin but is still a being colour.

I went to buy Hydro luminous but the girl said this was better for people who did not want heavy coverage.

Annasgirl · 07/02/2020 15:11

still a beige colour not yellow or orange.

helsybells · 07/02/2020 18:12

Thanks all. Looks like I need a trip to boots!

Annasgirl that’s really helpful, thanks!

I got a sample of MAC water weight foundation at the weekend. It's medium build able coverage. I love it, looks completely natural and dewy/glowy. Ideal for spring/summer.

Sweetpea1989 · 07/02/2020 19:56

Bare minerals complex rescue, lovely dewy finish.

Bananaman123 · 07/02/2020 22:54

Nars tinted moisturiser is amazing

Sengah · 07/02/2020 23:09

Laura mercier have changed formula? 😭 when?

whymewhyme · 07/02/2020 23:14

I saw pampered wolfs trinny video too, i was also tempted then i followed trinnys instagram and she had lots of stories/videos which were quite close up on the models and i thought they looked crap

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 08/02/2020 03:04

Banana is right
Nars TM is the bees knees

TheWashingMachine · 08/02/2020 03:11

Nars Sheer Glow was the worst thing I've ever used, I returned it. It made me look old and even my eight year old DS commented that it went a funny colour, so orange. I loved bourjois healthy mix but sadly it is no longer available.

helsybells · 08/02/2020 09:34

Ah thanks guys for further replies will investigate NARS and MAC too! ❤️❤️

Omorivcza complexion perfector. It’s pricey, but it glides on like velvet and gives a good coverage.

BemidjiMinnesota · 08/02/2020 12:37

The Ordinary serum foundation is my HG product. They have a billion shades and it gives a really glowy, healthy finish. It costs around £6 too, so very affordable.

GemmeFatale · 08/02/2020 18:44

@BemidjiMinnesota how did you pick your shade for the ordinary? It’s the thing that’s stopping me trying it

BemidjiMinnesota · 08/02/2020 18:50

@Gemmefatale Well I am whiter than snow, so I chose the palest shade with pink undertones and it's perfect for me.

There's a guide to choosing your shade here and there might be a comparison of swatches online so you can see which seems the best for you.

IT cosmetics CC cream, best thing ever

Daddylonglegs1965 · 08/02/2020 18:57

Try Beauty and the Boutique on FB. I sent them a photo had a private message chat and they recommended a fab one for me. Also love the liquid blusher and concealer from there.

MrsJustDo · 08/02/2020 19:27

Origins tinted moisturiser is amazing. Comes in just one shade but adjusts to your skin tone. I wore it on holiday in Italy and face still looked made up after a day of sweaty sightseeing. If you're after a foundation, I recently tried CYO which you can find in boots. It's £7 a bottle (half price online) and it's amazing, really smooth and slightly dewey finish. I bought it to see me through until my usual benefit foundation came back in stock and not sure I'll go back. I found it after a makeup artist recommended it online and not disappointed. I've had several comments when wearing it as well.

LettyFisher · 08/02/2020 19:31

My Laura Mercier one seems to still be the same (the grey original one?). I can't wear the oil free one as it is orange.

Can't get hold of it anywhere at the moment though so am also on the look out for an alternative.....

Tomatogravy · 11/02/2020 22:33

I find double wear light a lot more comfortable on the face less cakey but still covers lovley also easier to apply x
