Brow tinting at home

I been getting my brows shaped and tinted in a salon every 6 weeks or so, but I’ve found that although I could go longer between shaping treatments, the tint fades within 3-4 weeks, so I’ve been considering doing an interim home dye job.

However I’m a bit sceptical of the one-shade-of-brown-fits-all approach that seems to be standard with the home tint kits - they only seem to be available in a single colour? I’ve got cool skin tones and suit a dark ashy brown. Can anyone recommend a suitable kit please?

I use Refectocil and I mix grey, brown and black to make an ashy colour. It comes in loads of colours.

I use eyelure in dark brown and it is great, so much more convenient and cheaper, I have mid brown hair and fairish skin and fine this colour good, it will wear off quickly in about the same 6 week window - I find a lot of fade by a month actually, so if you don’t like it you so have long to wait....

Another one for eyelure dark brown. It’s very easy to do, you’ll wonder why you went to the salon at all.

I use Just For Men beard dye in black-brown. It's excellent, and a hell of a lot cheaper than eyebrow kits. I paint it on with an old paintbrush, leave it 10 mins, and poof! Beautiful brows.

Another vote for eyelure it’s fab, so easy to use too. I do mine about once a month

Yogawoogie · 07/02/2020 21:20

@grincheux do you not have to dispose of the rest though after you have used what you need? Is it still better value for money?

Mollypolly2610 · 07/02/2020 23:55

Just For Men moustache and beard in dark brown. You only need a little bit so it lasts for ages.

grincheux · 08/02/2020 08:39

Only squeeze out what you need, mix up just enough for what you're doing. 🙂

I use refectocil too. I just use the brown. Leave it on for 2 minutes and it's a cool toned brown. No red at all.
About £9 on Amazon for the dye, developer, brush and shot glass to mix in.
Use what you need. Mine is going strong after a year. I do it about once a month and it's really easy
You can also buy it in Sallys but it's more expensive

Ah, thanks for all the tips everyone! If the Refectocil has no red tones in it then I will start there and see how it goes.

Refectotil is fab and pays for itself after only one use. I start a thick bit of brows, one minute, then apply rest and leave for three minutes. It says up to 10 but worried it would be too dark.
