Microneedling / dermarolling

Has anyone done this and do you have any tips?

I have tried it twice now. Once a couple of weeks ago and again last night. Saturday night works well for me as I don’t have plans today (Sunday) and you’re not supposed to wear make up for 24 hours.

Anyway last night I put some Hyaluronuc acid on my face and then rolled (0.25 roller I think) and my skin looked more plump this morning. I’m wondering whether that’s just a temporary thing from the extra moisture rather than anything else.

I’ve been looking into doing this, where did you get you Microneedle from? I think you have to keep it up otherwise it will go back to normal, but i’m sure someone who knows more than me will come along with more wisdom!

I got it from FabFitFun and the brand is Grace & Stella. It was less than £10 but I think they’re inexpensive anyway. I have seen loads of them in TK Maxx.

The instructions on this one say to use it every two weeks but I’ve heard of other people saying they do it more often. It does say you’re not to wear make up the next day so that limits for me when I’d use it as I like to wear a bit of make up Mon-Fri for work but could do it the night before a work from home day.

I suppose it makes sense that, if I keep up to it, the results will continue.

Some say that with a needle so small it can only help the efficacy of serums anyway and nothing more so I’m going to keep on and maybe up to once a week and then up to a longer needle after a few months.

Following!

I’ve bought a microneedle but not tried it yet. I thought you put product on afterwards?

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/02/2020 15:32

@RogueV The instructions on the one I’ve got say to put the product on after but I watched a video on YouTube (can’t remember which one it was) and it was suggested you put the hyaluronic serum on first and that helps it to go to the skin. I suppose it doesn’t make much of a difference? But I definitely noticed a difference in my skin this morning and I don’t remember that last time.

But if you’ve got one, give it a go! I bought mine and had it for ages before I used it as it felt like a chore to work out what to do with it. Like I said, some YouTube videos were helpful. The most important thing is to make sure it’s clean and sanitized before you use it.

Did you get any bleeding or marks?

I’ve bought it as I’ve got melasma on my cheek bones post pregnancy, so I’m hoping for greater penetration of retinol and acids!

No nothing at all

I am thinking of trying it on my stretch marks on my stomach though as I saw a video from someone on YouTube who did that
