It's so annoying when you know exactly what you want but not sure it exists..

I would like a black heavy material dress with three quarter length sleeves or long sleeves a v neck or scoop neck or square neck( can't be high as I have big boobs) that then goes in at the waist and out in to an a line skirt ( but not too full)

Happy for it to be shirt dress or belted or fit and flare but needs to accentuate waist and minimise tummy thighs and bum

Im a 14 hourglass shape and if I can find it I will buy it in every colour/ pattern for work !!!

I'm sort of thinking something like Kirstie Alsopp wears but not as full

Has to be professional.

Please help!

BedSprings · 02/02/2020 12:37

Strewth that link is huge. Confused

Crazy8 · 02/02/2020 12:42

Have a look at www.Elainebernstein.com.

MaisieMaisie · 02/02/2020 12:46

This dress from Phase Eight is lovely (i am hourglass and its lovely on. Nicer than on the model I think) though not black but I think it's so lovely I am trying to find someone who can copy it in a different fabric.

BedSprings · 02/02/2020 12:52

How about something like this one?

I think I've cracked this link malarkey Wink

greegr · 02/02/2020 13:33

Thanks for all the links!

First one is nice but don't want pockets
Others look a bit casual

I tried the phase eight one on and it swamped me so that's why I need a slightly less full skirt

The Elaine Bernstein stuff looks great but a bit out of my price range! Happy to spend up to 150 quid!

Thanks for all your help!

www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/kassidy-jersey-midi-dress-black/sty-j0625-blk?cat=C1_S2_G4

Shorter than 3/4 sleeves but meets everything else?

Or this?

MoltonSilver · 02/02/2020 14:22

I have that Boden dress. Its really flattering. The fabric isn't particularly heavy but it does hang nicely.

greegr · 02/02/2020 16:17

Would be perfect but for the pockets and longer sleeves!

Have you looked at Katya Wildman Bombshell dresses? I have three of her "fit flare flatter". Might be a bit low cut for work depending on your measurements. Sold out on line but they come up on ebay. "Edge of the shoulder" look similar.

This company is worth a browse. Really well made.

Whwww.theprettydresscompany.com/shop-c1/dresses-c2/the-pretty-dress-company-myla-tartan-midi-dress-p378#attribute%5B1%5D=85at about this one?

Polly99 · 02/02/2020 17:12

OP, have a look at The Fold sale.
They have a couple of black knitted dresses with long sleeves and full skirts. The necklines might be a bit high though.
If you can do something other than black there is this which I have seen on someone in a different colour and is very professional-looking.

Sorry, neither quite matches your brief but they at least have sleeves!!

greegr · 02/02/2020 17:45

Thanks

Love the bombshell dresses but a bit pricey

Also love the fold dress.. might order that even though not in black

Also like the last one

Thanks for all the help!

There is no compulsion to hurt t endlessly for a specific dress. There are still people who will make a dress from scratch to your specs probably an older woman, or even a friend who dress makes. As long as you are sure of the standard of finish, go ahead and stump up what it costs. Many ready mades cost quite a lot and are not all that well finished. Even better, learn to make your own clothes if you have time. In my youth, I simply had to, as clothes well very expensive.

purplemonstermum · 23/02/2020 20:03

How about this? Although I accept it is polka dot, not fully black. They used to make it in fully black (I have it), but not sure if it's still available.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 23/02/2020 22:22

I have that Jessica dress in red with a different skirt option. It’s lovely thick jersey. Depending on how you arrange the wrap top, it can be a bit cleavagey or less so.

Silverstreaks · 23/02/2020 22:38

I bought this. It's really lovely on. Great neck and heavy material. Wish I'd paid that price for it.

banivani · 24/02/2020 07:27

I wonder if this isn’t the one apart from the price
www.ladress.com/en/products/ella-10685000.html (The site might have something else? Esp in any sales...)
