Looking for some recommendations for lovely shower gels...which ones are your favourites?

For Christmas I received Molton Brown and L'Occitaine shower gels, which are always rated highly on here.

But I just don't see what the fuss is about now that i've tried several of the favourite ones on here. The price tags are Shock so watching with interest.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 02/02/2020 11:24

I've switched to soap. I got a range of lovely ones for Christmas which I've started to work my way through. Currently on Kew coconut soap, which smells nice, doesn't dry my skin (any more than shower gel anyway) and is so far lasting for ages!

Runnerduck34 · 02/02/2020 11:27

Loccitane almond shower oil is divine , but pricey so rarely get to buy it

JillAmanda · 02/02/2020 11:32

I switched to soap ages ago. It lasts far longer than shower gel, and I feel cleaner and fresher for longer.

I get lovely ones from TK Maxx but I also like the smell of Dove (although I don’t feel as fresh after Dove as it’s not strictly soap).

margotsdevil · 02/02/2020 11:42

I like the L'Occitane Amande oil, it's great if you've got dry skin, and their Verveine shower gel - lovely and citrus. Also like Body Shop Ginger, Original Source Lemon, and Arran Aromatics Citrus Shores - although I don't think they make it any more 😔

MidsomerBurgers · 02/02/2020 11:43

Australian Body Care tea tree, in a huge 1 litre size bottle. Lovely and fresh and does the whole family.

Geoffreythecat · 02/02/2020 16:45

Glad to see some other soap users. Cheaper in the long run and there no need to use so much plastic just to wash Sad There are some great small businesses handmaking beautiful soap.

Snog · 02/02/2020 18:20

Yes I like the idea of supporting small local businesses

We had this exact same thread within the past two weeks - sure there will be some great ideas on there.

Tara336 · 02/02/2020 18:25

I love Loccitane Amande. It last two bottles I’ve had it’s gone funny and separated, has any else had this happen? I’ve not bought it since because of that

lollybee1 · 02/02/2020 18:26

Ted baker

Itsashame · 02/02/2020 18:43

Soap all the way for me! I switched to save on plastic and I’d never go back now, soap is so much nicer for feeling clean

babysnowman · 02/02/2020 19:08

@Tara336 I think I read somewhere that it can do this if the bottle gets too cold? Apparently it doesn't affect the quality though. Mine goes cloudy if I leave the bathroom window open 🥶 but always goes back to normal.

Fatarseflanagan09 · 02/02/2020 19:14

Has anyone tried the White Company stuff ?

@babysnowman thank you, maybe I’ll give it another go as I do like it

Cumberlover76 · 02/02/2020 19:36

We use soap too. I get various faith in nature ones whic some shops sell totally package free, i like the aloe, lavender, coconut and tea tree ones. Also agree lots of local soap producers too.

citygirl1961 · 02/02/2020 20:39

Isn't soap supposed to be drying, especially for dry and eczema prone skin? Does anyone find it messy in the bathroom?

I'm only asking as I get tempted to try soap but the above things put me off - and I have eczema.

Squiz81 · 02/02/2020 20:46

I've switched to soap. My skin is loads better and my armpits stay fresher for longer.

Dozer · 02/02/2020 20:48

Love anything with lavender.

Bananaman123 · 02/02/2020 21:02

Cant decide, i love

Bath and body works merlot
Noble isle willow song
Discontinued now but ted baker mint was my fav for a long time
Molton and brown rhubarb and rose
Rituals, karma then dao

BumbleBree · 02/02/2020 22:59

Molton Brown Muddled Plum. Smell it on my skin all day.

Geoffreythecat · 02/02/2020 23:09

I find soap much less drying than shower gel. Shower gel gives me eczema and thrush (lovely). Just get a soap tray for the shower, then its not messy at all. Am currently using olive oil soap from a friend in Greece - she makes it from her own olives. It's bloody amazing stuff, but obviously that's not much help for anyone else Grin As mentioned before though, there are small business all over which sell hand made soap without SLS. My next one (picked up on holiday) is made from donkey milk!

headlock · 02/02/2020 23:11

I use soap. Switched a few years ago because it last so much longer so really economical but also no plastic. Olive oil or simple.

headlock · 02/02/2020 23:14

Also, I don't really like using anything perfumed on my bits!! I find underarms are fresher longer with soap.
