Just that, really.
I’ve chosen someone to go it, and her instagram pictures of clients look good, although she hasn’t been qualified that long (about 9 months)
90% sure that I’m going to have it done, so from people who’ve had it - what’s your advice?
My biggest concern is the healing process - I’m scared of having to go out and about afterwards with massive slug brows that are flaky and scabby (although the therapist assured me they shouldn’t be too bad with correct aftercare).

If anyone could show me pics of when they had theirs done, I’d really appreciate it!

You will hate it and you will panic the first night, the next day and possibly the second day too, just as you get used to it, your scabs will fall off and you will hate it as it will look patchy and light but give a few days/week to settle and it will all become right, and listen to your aftercare instructions and follow them, no make up or getting them wet and no sweating.

I love mine as one of my eyebrows fell out and my attempts to pencil one in was hysterical, but now I have two almost matching eyebrows.

Peterperfect · 01/02/2020 21:52

I was braced for the scabbing to be awful but it was barely noticeable.
I absolutely hated how they looked straightaway though and thought I’d made a huge mistake. They looked like the Angry Birds. I think it was that I wasn’t used to seeing myself with proper brows though. I really like them now.

Follow the aftercare to the letter and when you go back for the touch up bear in mind it might feel more painful than the initial treatment. I thought it would be agony the first time (wimp with low pain threshold) but it was absolutely fine. Second time it flipping hurt for some reason.

I love that I now have brows and that I can go out without having to try draw some one. I don’t have bad brow days anymore where one looks lower than the other or a completely different shape. I don’t have any before or after pics as I hate having pics of myself. Hope yours goes well and you’re really happy with them.

There's one person on here who has posted photos of hers and they look okay but all the others are shocking.

Pick your person very very carefully.

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 22:12

Agree with the pick the person carefully, mine are micropigmentation so done with a needle
I followed her for about a year and she posted v late at night needing a model and I replied just in time and got a spot
Not in a bragging way but compared to some I've seen, mine were worth waiting for!

tigerbear · 01/02/2020 22:18

Thanks for posting everyone.
Still really nervous.
From the pictures I’ve seen, the majority look quite obvious (in general, I mean, not just from the therapist I’m using)

Those who’ve had them done - did you get to check what they were doing all the way through, or just let them get on with it?

eurochick · 01/02/2020 22:20

Don't do it! So many just look awful.

conduitoffortune · 01/02/2020 22:21

Well mine faded away after a matter of weeks, although my friends who went to the same woman all still have nice brows.

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 22:23

I just let them get on with it, they were students so it took longer than usual

Kindlethefourth · 01/02/2020 22:25

Mine hurt like hell. Like a pizza wheel made of razor blades was being dragged over my skin. It faded completely the first time and although the shape is good the colour was never right.

ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 22:25

This is now so they've faded a bit. I use brow gel as my hair is so pale but this is without any

Microblading - please give me your advice and tips before I go for it!
Ihaveamind · 01/02/2020 22:27

I hated them for the first week, thought they were very obvious and embarrassing. A year later I'm very happy with them.
Follow the aftercare and remember no makeup for ten days so plan it for when you don't have anything on.

Top tip is to take an ibuprofen before you go, helps with the pain of getting it done and reduces any swelling.

BlackSwan · 01/02/2020 22:27

Bit of a gamble - no one ever instagrams the bad results. Wouldn’t do it

tigerbear · 01/02/2020 22:45

@ClientQueen yours look nice
How long ago did you get them done?

OP posts:
ClientQueen · 01/02/2020 22:47

3 years I think!

tigerbear · 01/02/2020 22:47

@Ihaveamind when you say no makeup, do you mean completely? For instance, would it be ok to wear concealer beneath the eye, and mascara?

Love mine, had them done for the second time recently. My lady trains others and I saw lots of her work and was happy with it. I wanted natural looking and she did well, not big black things. I just let her get on with it, she is the expert!

Make sure you go to someone who uses numbing cream, they applied this and left me for half hour before starting the microblading, I don't feel a thing when she does it.

TippledPink · 01/02/2020 22:52

I wear make up to the appointment, she cleans the area thoroughly that she is working on.

TippledPink · 01/02/2020 22:53

Sorry just seen you mean make up after- I used make up after, just avoid the eyebrow area.

tigerbear · 01/02/2020 23:03

Ok thanks @TippledPink

These are mine, I love them. I have mine topped up every 18 months. It's not painful, just slightly uncomfortable.

tigerbear · 01/02/2020 23:58

Ooh, @ReginaGeorgeous they look amazing!!

ReginaGeorgeous · 02/02/2020 09:48

Thank you, this photo was taken immediately after they were done, they're a bit swollen and stark here. They softened a little once they'd healed.

Ihaveamind · 02/02/2020 11:14

Yes, just no makeup near the eyebrows so under eye concealer should be fine. I suppose mascara depends on how long your lashes are Smile

Peterperfect · 02/02/2020 11:44

I stayed clear of all eye makeup for 2 weeks because I didn’t want to risk ‘disturbing’ my brows with cleanser.

For some reason the right eyebrow has faded more than the left one.

Also after initial appointment they both really faded and as I had no idea what was normal didn’t think anything of it. When I went back for the touch up the therapist said they’d faded more than normal and that if it was necessary she would do a second touch up for free. She said it’s very rare but does happen. I thought that was very honest of her and good to offer an extra touch up.
