Dressing up barrel leg jeans

Lucked · 31/01/2020 21:00

I am thinking of getting a pair from whistles and I have sorted (in my head) how I would wear them casually as all the styling online seems to be t-shirts, Bretons and jumpers which I have in abundance.

However I would love to mix up my going out uniform of skinnies and blouse. Am I just tucking my silk blouse into the barrel leg jeans? What works well with them? Are they better with a belt?

Venues would bars and smart casual restaurants.

I have three pairs of these (light blue, navy, and black) and absolutely love them, but to me they are very casual. I can’t imagine wearing them in a more dressy setting, and find the high waist doesn’t work with a blouse because it makes the blouse sit really pouffy if tucked in, or creates a sort of triangle if it’s untucked. That might just be me though, I have a small waist and big bum/hips.

I wear them with trainers, occasionally brogues, and either tucked in t-shirts in summer, or slightly cropped jumpers in winter. (Sitting on the waistband, not actually flashing my stomach!) They come up quite big, in case you are buying online. I’m a pretty standard 10, and mine are all the 27 waist.

I actually love mine with a blouse tucked in and heels, it’s a perfect mix of smart and casual for me

Okay that is useful and back to the drawing board for nights out.

I find Whistles large in general, I size down to a 12 in there, are the jeans bigger again? I can’t imagine buying a 10 although I am wondering if a 29 equates to an 11

Okay so it may work. Will need to do a mammoth trying on session when I get them.

Next don’t have the colour I want but I am considering ordering multiple sizes from them to sort sizing as it is really easy for me to return to Next and then I can confidently order the ones I want from whistles.

Okay, so maybe just me who can’t wear them as smart. To be fair I don’t even own heels, so I am possibly not giving them a fair press itsashame! I do really, really love them for casual wear.

I think a 27 is a “nine”, lucked. I initially got a 28 and exchanged them. I have other trousers/skirts from there in a 10 which are fine.

I wear mine casually too - can't even wear them to work and don't think I'd wear them on a night out.

But maybe with high heels and a sheer blouse they would work for a bar?
