Tell me what bag I need??

I'm going round in circles here. I need a new bag.

I am replacing a black handbag that has been brilliant. It is this Hush Gabby bag but in a handbag size rather than the weekend bag. It's smart AND casual, has a zip so things are safe, I can just get the handles over my shoulder which is important. Obviously I've ruined it by overfilling it with the tons of crap I cart around, the medium sized ness of it is just too tempting. Also it's 4 years old and the hardware is looking shabby, the handles are wonky. It needs a break.

I am completely torn between these options:

  1. a little satchel, e.g. this one by Mimi Berry which I won't be able to fit liters of milk in (!) and so won't ruin as easily or this 'it' bag by APC but which I have heard can bite your hand a bit when you go to get your purse because the leather is rigid
  1. A tote bag like this Everlane tote or this Madewell tote

Or maybe something like the little satchel one but in tan, just for a change?

You can see my style is pretty minimalist. I would like to spend about £200 no more.

What would you do? Just to say, I obviously have 100,000 canvas tote bags I can use to cart all the crap around. I feel like I need some kind of Marie Kondo approach to bag hauling...

If you are used to a larger bag I'd stick with that, unless you are committed to carrying a lot less. I would say the Madewell tote is a good shout because it has a top zip and isn't huge.

And Other Stories have lovely high-quality but not crazy priced bags. Never heard of mimiberry but wouldn't pay over £200 for it.

I've got an older style Madewell and love it, I really like the one you linked to.

Massimo Dutti have great new season bags. You could also search JLewis. If you take the dog charm off, Radley bags are very well made and they have really upped their game in the last couple of years.
