How to stop my hair having this texture? (Pic)

It's like a layer of frizz and it's so unattractive!
I've smooth dried it but not used straighteners. It's not actually dry, it's in good condition but I've always been left with this horrible texture!
How to make it silky without straightening it to death?

If you leave it to dry naturally is it quite wavy?

Mine would be a bit like this if I dried it myself with a hairdryer. I have a new revlon dryer brush thing that's awesome and makes it look better. Or if I leave it to dry naturally and wavy I'm not fighting it's natural state and it looks less frizzy.

Reginabambina · 27/01/2020 20:44

What do you use to dry it? What is your water quality like?

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 27/01/2020 20:46

I’ve got naturally wavy hair. I have to Babyliss Big Hair or straighten it to get rid of that texture.

ReginaGeorgeous · 27/01/2020 20:46

What products have you used? Including shampoo and conditioner.

worldweary45 · 27/01/2020 20:47

Looks like it's wanting to be curly hair and protesting

My Dyson hairdryer is what saved my hair from this. But I suggested that to another poster once and then found out that they cost about £300! It was bought for me as a gift so I had no idea. There are cheaper alternatives available that claim to be just as good though if you do a Google.

Serum

Needadviceplz · 27/01/2020 20:54

Get it chemically straightened best thing I ever did for my hair. I have thick long hair and only way I ever got it sleek without frizz was paying for a good blow-dry.

Now I just wash and go so good. But have to be careful who you go to to get it done as if not done correctly your hair will just snap off.

SleightOfMind · 27/01/2020 21:00

I have a Babyliss Big Hair I don’t need any more.
Happy to donate to any of my frizzy sisters in return for a charity donation.

Word of warning.
I bought it after I broke my shoulder. It’s great at smoothing your hair one-handed but I‘d never use it unless I needed to or had very short hair. Like straighteners, it fucks up your hair if you use it too often.

If you want smooth and healthy hair, nothing replaces a decent hair dryer, on a lowish heat, with good technique.

Pm me if you want the Big Hair Frazzler thing. Smile

bungleZippy12 · 27/01/2020 21:04

A decent serum is your friend! The kerastase gold bottle (can’t remember its name) is amazing. Costs a bit but you only need a small amount so it lasts years.

Fochit · 27/01/2020 21:05

Thoroughly wet hair and massage scalp (effectively wash with plain water) then comb conditioner through mid length to ends, rinse. Then shampoo roots only, rinse.

Needadviceplz · 27/01/2020 21:07

That's my hair it's called yuko hair straighting it's like a perm but smooths the hair. It's permanent so you just get roots done every 6 months or longer if hairs not curly. Honestly can't rave about it enough and wish I knew about it sooner. Don't have to straighten and just use a bit of morrocan oil.

A good nourishing shampoo and conditioner, I alternate between Aussie miracle moist and herbal essences. I use a hair mask once a week (I love the heat activated ones that come with the cap).

I then use Aussie spray in conditioner, towel dry, use some heat protectant spray and a tiny pump of hair serum from mid to ends and blow dry using nozzle attached in a downward motion and finish with the cool setting to set hair.

I then run the straighteners through my hair in sections.

Hope this helps x

All those poor sad squashed waves and curls :(

Feawen · 27/01/2020 21:14

My hair does that if I blow dry it. I used to let it dry naturally in waves, which I preferred to the frizz! Or occasionally straighten with straighteners but my hair is thick and took absolutely ages.

I say all this in the past tense because I chopped it all off and love my pixie cut now. But I appreciate that is an extreme solution :).

I find a boar bristle hair brush helps. The bristles help distribute the natural oils more evenly to condition your hair to the ends.

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 27/01/2020 22:05

@SleightOfMind Oh I'd live to try that please!
Can you pm me please?

My hair is WAY worse if I let it dry naturally, god it's just a state!!

Do you get a regular trim?

HotChocolatemarshmallows · 28/01/2020 05:56

Yes regular trims.

Mine is like that even after I use the babyliss big hair. I like the volume I get with the big hair but I then need to run over it with straighteners and a spritz of gloss shine spray

kmini · 28/01/2020 22:44

Colour wow dreamcoat helps a bit

goose1964 · 29/01/2020 00:18

I tried curly girl lite as I have corkscrew curls rather the right curls. However until I tried it I had Heroine hair. Now if I use a rich moisturising conditioner I get the same results.

L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil

homemadecommunistrussia · 29/01/2020 07:14

It looks damaged to me. I would cut it as short as you can stand and stop using heat on it all the time.
You probably won't...
