What to wear with this skirt?

Bought this skirt yesterday and wondering what kind of top to wear with it?
The fabric has a slight golden shimmer in it (not sure if it’s visible in the photo).

I generally like a more simple style and thought a plain black short sleeved turtleneck top would be fine with it but my friend says it’s boring and I should wear something bright red on it.

Do the MN-ers have any advice for me ?

You could wear orange, burnt orange, brown, beige, cream or even the pale pink that's some of the flowers are.
Gold might work depending on how way the gold is to see IRL.

It if was me, I’d probably wear a crisp white t-shirt and white trainers. Keeping it simple. A thin red crew neck jumper would also look good I think. Even potentially a more chunky knit whilst it’s chilly.

Is it the H&M one? It’s v cute! I would keep it simple with a thin black turtleneck (don’t like short sleeves, though - go long!). Or plain white tee, or possibly cream jumper.
