Cotton-type (matt fabric) waterproof raincoat?

I'm in the market for a new spring/autumn raincoat - ideally unfussy black with a large hood, several pockets, and mid-thigh length. The Boden Suki looks ideal but it's out of stock in 12 or 14 🙄

I like the style of something like the Joules Headland and I could compromise on colour and order that in the dark green, but it's polyester and I think might be a bit shiny (quelle horreur).

Any recommendations? I have a couple of Protected Species coats for work which I love but that's not the kind of fabric I'm after. I also have a Didriksons Ida in black but it's v shiny and not long enough, although it's handy as a summer rain jacket.

I quite the look of the Seasalt Polperro in grey but it's hard to work out what the finish of the fabric is like - does anyone have that?

This is lovely if you're rich! finisterre.com/collections/womens-outerwear/products/womens-vellus-waterproof-jacket-charcoal

I've got the Joules Coast but it might be a bit thin. They don't have it in black but do have a dark navy.

OMG, that Finisterre parka is what I hace bern looking for all my life!

SmellMySmellbow · 26/01/2020 19:18

@BikeRunSki it's beautiful. I've seen it 'in the flesh'. I'm really cross that I bought DH a really similar one for his birthday as now I can't have it or we'd look like we were matching. (And can't afford it!) Their knitwear is divine btw.

Seasalt would be my go to place for that sort of thing.

I've just checked and the Seasalt Polperro in dark grey is the one I've got! I've been wearing it practically every day since I bought it in the early autumn, as its been so wet - hasn't leaked at all. And the fabric (tin cloth, I think its called) is very non-shiney - very matt. Love it!!

Laquila · 26/01/2020 20:28

Smellbow that IS lovely!! I am deffo not that rich. And TBH I was after something a bit lighter.

Maudesmum thank you for that - I think I'll order it and see what I reckon 😀

Veterinari I'd never heard of Lighthouse, thank you! Some nice stuff there.

I've lost track of how many times I've recommended this brand on here. Rockholly. Brilliantly waterproof and washes incredibly well

Laquila · 26/01/2020 21:47

Just looked them up, Kmini - the Long Traditional is lovely! Pretty much what I've been looking for apart from the price - I was hoping to spend closer to £100. I can't justify any more than that given my already fairly extensive coat wardrobe 😁

Thanks Bike but they have nothing in black. I quite like their Fonda jacket but i've told myself I need black and it's hard to deviate now 😁
