Best glowy foundation

GizmosBandana · 26/01/2020 13:35

I'm on the hunt for a new foundation, but having stuck with the same one (Revlon Colour Stay) for years I don't really know where to start!

I have pale combination skin, generally clear apart from the odd monthly hormonal spot. I just feel like I look knackered and dull all the time and I'm after a foundation that gives me a glowy radiant finish whilst still giving a bit of coverage. I've spent ages looking online for recommendations but still a bit baffled. I'm heading out shopping tomorrow so could get a few samples, but of what?! I'm currently on maternity leave so money a bit tight, but I don't mind spending out on a good foundation.

Any recommendations would be very gratefully received!

Personally I love Armani luminous silk with hourglass sum light powder on top. Gives coverage but still glowy.

Welshponyslave · 26/01/2020 13:45

L’Oréal infallible pro glow, it is not available in the UK but you can get it on amazon for £12. I used an online colour match to get the correct colour.

HeyMicky · 26/01/2020 13:45

L'Oréal ProGlo - but only available online

castlesfromtherubble · 26/01/2020 14:35

I also wear Armani Luminous Silk with Hourglass powder on top. Don't want to toot my own horn (honk honk!) but my skin looks glowing and I get lots of lovely comments about it. It's expensive but worth it IMO.

Clarins Skin Illusion (I think they recently changed the formula, but I’m fairly sure it’s still glowy!)

Rimmel Lasting Radiance foundation (has SPF 20 which is a bonus!)

professionalnomad · 26/01/2020 15:27

No7 Hydraluminous

FuckingHateRats · 26/01/2020 16:00

No7 Hydroluminous for sure

Lunaballoon · 26/01/2020 16:11

And another for No7 Hydraluminous

jjjnnnnnrrssss · 26/01/2020 16:13

Glowy foundation is well and good, but having good skin is what will really help you glow. Check out Katie Jane Hughes on insta

cad186 · 26/01/2020 16:20

Armani luminous silk is my favourite, closely followed by loreal pro glow. Also like no7 hydraluminous though!

Gonegrey31 · 26/01/2020 16:24

I like Clinique Even Better Glow. Lots of compliments when I wear it, especially from super critical dd.

GirlDownUnder · 26/01/2020 16:30

By biggest (as in people notice) complements are when I wash my face with baby oil, while showering.

Just when I'm about finished showering, I wipe my wet face with baby oil then rinse with water, and pat dry.

Sometimes I bother with foundation but usually not. I think the minerals in the baby oil give a glowy effect and there's enough oil I don't need moisturiser.

Now someone is going to tell me I'm killing my skin 😬 🙈 😘

I hate autocucumber

complements = compliments 🤦‍♀️

Another fan of Armani Luminous silk here - it’s beautiful. I also like Bourjois Healthy Mix but it’s being discontinued in the UK. However, I’ve recently started mixing MAC strobe cream with any old foundation and it’s lovely. So dewy and fresh looking.

Rimmel Lasting Radiance

GizmosBandana · 26/01/2020 18:57

Thank you very much for all of the recommendations! My skin is the best it's been in years thanks to a complete overhaul of my regime in the summer, I just feel my current foundation is too matte and flat so not giving me the glow I desperately need. With DS's 5 and 7 months I need all the help I can get! I ordered the L'Oréal Pro Glow from Amazon taking a guess on the shade and tomorrow I'm going to get samples of the No7 Hydraluminous, Armani and Clinique foundations mentioned. And I'm now convincing myself I also need the Hourglass setting powder mentioned... Wink

I also love No7 hydraluminous, L'oreal pro glo and Maybelline superstay foundation stick.
I apply all of these on top of the elf putty primer for a smooth, dewy finish.

I have just purchased Maybelline dream radiant foundation, and this looks promising too.

Layers of serum, a couple of drops of facial oil, a light moisturiser and the putty primer, all work with the foundation to ensure I'm not dry, tight or cakey looking.
I do set with powder, but still look fresh, especially as the day goes on and my oils come through.

Beautifullymixed · 26/01/2020 19:13

If you want dewy, then the Revolution fast base foundation stick will please you too.
A dot here and there will blend out like butter, leaving you dewy and glowing.
Powder is essential to set though.

citygirl1961 · 26/01/2020 19:20

No7 Hydroluminous and Clinique Even Better Glow, I can't decide between the two :)

Tooearlyforrose · 26/01/2020 19:39

YSL Touche Eclat gives me a glow

Chihaha · 26/01/2020 19:50

Becca aqualuminous. You can get it on offer in boots and asos online. Its bloody amazing. The dropper is annoying though. I'm on my 4th bottle.

KatharinaRosalie · 26/01/2020 21:19

chanel les beiges eau de teint - looks like you are not wearing any make up, just looking glowing

Inherdefence · 26/01/2020 21:53

Vichy Dermablend compact foundation from the skincare section at Boots makes me look fresh, radiant and dewy. I dot it sparingly over my face, then buff it in with a stippling brush for a light, long lasting finish. Then I spritz with NYX dewy fixing spray.

violetbunny · 26/01/2020 22:12

Keep in mind that many glowy / dewy foundations tend not to last as long on the skin, especially compared to Colorstay.

Consider also trying a glowing base for your foundation. Laura Mercier does a great illuminating primer, and By Terry do an amazing CC serum which is spendy but well worth the money for a lit-from-within glow.

Do you use highlighter at all?

SummerLove2306 · 26/01/2020 22:24

Revolution fast stick or revolution hydrate and conceal
