Eternity Rings

We're replacing my eternity ring as it's white gold and I'm fed up with having it replated.

I've ordered this from Goldsmiths but I'm wondering whether to cancel as although I like it I'm not sure.

What are people's thoughts on coloured gemstones? I think I like them but it's really hard to find a platinum half eternity ring (I don't want a full eternity) in one of the coloured stones and the budget won't run to getting one made! Does anyone have any suggestions? For reference my wedding ring is a plain platinum band and my engagement ring is a princess cut diamond set in platinum.

I have that very ring! And I love it! But it is in white gold! How would it sit with your other rings?

Also I think multi colours will detract from the diamonds.

I really like that one, but I think you have to love it or else you'll find yourself looking at it and feeling disappointed that it's not quite right. There's a thread in chat about someone looking for an eternity ring, lots of pictures that people have posted so you might find inspiration from that.

Rings worn together should be the same metal. If ones harder material they rub and damage the softer one.

Have you googled independent jewellers? I found they make different designs.

Or walked round a jewellery quarter?

I do like the ring. I’d like an Amethyst ring but most are in sliver rather than gold.

Gepelli I'm glad you love the ring! I agree with what you say about the coloured stones detracting from the diamonds, I hadn't actually thought of that. The Goldsmiths ring should sit fine with my other rings as they are both just plain round bands and pretty much the same width. I don't always wear my engagement ring as I tend to catch my clothes on the claw setting! Unfortunately they didn't have one in store to try.

The only negative is that it tends to swing round so stones are facing my palm iyswim.

I found that with my original eternity ring. The only reason I don't want a fully eternity ring is that I'd be worried about damaging it as I wear it all the time and it couldn't be altered if when I lose the 2.5st I've put on.

Update! I cancelled the Goldsmiths ring and went to a local independent jeweller who had done a lot of work for me in the past. I spent ages talking to him and ended up choosing this ring as a half eternity. As well as that he's going to repair the shank of my mum's engagement ring which is something I've been meaning to do since she died.

It won't be quite as big as that as my other rings are quite narrow but I like it because it's a bit different. I also like the fact that my lovely local jeweller has my custom again!

As another has said I was told by many jewellers that platinum can only sit beside platinum as it damages any other metal? Might explain why your white gold was coming off so often.

I thought it was about time I updated this thread! I've got my eternity ring and I'm so pleased with it. The photos aren't great, my engagement ring looks as though it swamps the eternity ring but it doesn't. Oh and please excuse the state of my hands!

Looks great OP, I especially like it with the engagement ring.

Might be that I like it because I wear three rings with equal thinnish bands so I guess it is what I am used to!

I went for a platinum/diamond half eternity ring as my wedding ring to go with my diamond solitaire, and I’m hoping to get a cognac diamond half eternity for our first anniversary in a year’s time (we’ve been together a long time so I figure I’m due another ring quite soon ). Hope my trilogy will look as lovely as yours!
