Floaty smock dresses on 5,7 apple shape?

I love the long and midi smock dresses that are in the shops at present. I am 5,7 apple shape with 16 top and 14 bottom halves.

I would probably go for a black and white fairly gentle print either tiered or with smocking to create some waist In my vision I would wear it with my knee length black boots and long camel coat or shoe boots and biker jacket when spring starts.

Any recommendations ? Or should I just avoid hiding my legs which are my best feature?

Watching with interest! I'm around the same size as you and have just about given up on the floaty dresses. I've tried on loads & they just look awful, so I'm wearing long floaty maxi skirts with a jumper.

I had a nice dress from Fatface in the sale but have washed it once (following instructions) and it’s shrunk. It’s no longer floaty and instead clings to me tummy. Going to try and take it back today.

Rockstar can you post a pic of the maxi skirt jumper look? I really like the idea . All the pleated elastic waist skirts are gorgeous on my pear friends. I, however channelled my Gran in 1982 and she was looked like barrel with feet and crackled with electricity Grin. My tummy also stretched out the pleats in its efforts to be noticed .

Sort of like this! Gives me my fix for a floaty bottom with the comfort of a jumper! 😀

Thanks Rockstar that could really work for me. I will hunt down a fine knit that doesn't make me look enormous and a wrap skirt wouldn't hide my legs. Tonight's entertainment sorted!

It's a compromise for me, I really want a floaty dress (stamps foot!) but they either hang from my chest like a tent or the billowy puffed sleeves make my shoulders look like a weight lifter! ☹️

It's shit but glad I helped - I was rather hoping we would have an influx of posts recommending some great dresses! 🤷‍♀️😀
