I've bought this dress for a wedding in March. Need shoes, bag, pashmina (possibly), head piece, jewellery.....

What colours are we thinking?

Help me accessorise this dress!

It depends on your colouring? Hair, eyes, skin colour etc? If you are a brunette and olive/tanned like the model, I'd personally go with red accessories that match the red flowers in the dress. I can see blue, but wouldnt choose that (blue and green should never be seen!). Possibly a gold or yellow to pick out the yellow colours, but really depends on your own colouring and what suits you?

Gorgeous dress! I’m thinking keep it simple...no headress but hair up , drop earrings, cream pashmina and nude shoes....let the dress do the talking!

nonsensicalmess · 24/01/2020 19:50

I have dark red hair and brown eyes - hence why I love green! Fairly warm skin tone.

I like your thinking @MrsGrindah but I really, really don't like my hair up!

Ok well some big statement earrings can still work with hair down. I just think the dress is so lovely it should be the star of the show if you see what I mean?

nonsensicalmess · 24/01/2020 20:14

I do! Definitely agree with statement earrings, and will rethink a headpiece...

Where is the dress from ?

Disfordarkchocolate · 24/01/2020 20:22

Gorgeous dress. Check out Sarah Hickey on Etsy, she has some lovely necklaces and earrings. I bought something like these for a recent wedding with a matching necklace. She has many colour options.

It's from ASOS.

Mine got so many compliments.

Gorgeous dress.
I'd go with pink accessories.

peachgreen · 25/01/2020 03:57

I'd go for orange velvet slingbacks, gold earrings and a contrasting bag. Beautiful!

NoodlesMcGee · 25/01/2020 04:39

Gorgeous dress OP - and agree with @peachgreen - pops of colour with the shoes and bag would be good, maybe bringing out the non-green colours of the dress (eg pink).

Avoid a pattern - the dress is so detailed that a patterned bag might look too busy

nonsensicalmess · 25/01/2020 08:02

I like the sound of that @peachgreen !

Yep, definitely plain bag, i agree!

Could I ask for some more advice about this? I'm very small chested and much as the dress fits beautiful around the hips, it's a bit gapey in the bust. Is there anything I could do about it? It's such a deep neckline, I don't want my (small) boobs to be showing from the side!

You could get it taken in under the arms. A safety pin might work in a pinch (fold in the seam under the arm from the inside and secure) but it's such a beautiful dress it's worth getting it done professionally.

nonsensicalmess · 25/01/2020 19:35

Yeah I was thinking of taking it to a local place that did a great job on a bridesmaid dress for me a couple of years ago....

Remember when you go to get your dress altered to wear the same bra that you plan to wear with the dress, so the fit / shape sits well.

nonsensicalmess · 26/01/2020 08:05

Yes Nancy - good point, thanks!

Update: been to dressmakers this morning and am getting top of dress altered to fit better. Now thinking nude shoes and pink clutch to accessorise, but then can't decide what colour pashmina to go for?! I'll definitely need something round me as it could be quite cold in March!
