Alternative to Eve Lom cleansing balm

OnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 23/01/2020 22:33

I haven't used Eve Lom's cleansing balm for over a decade, it used to really suit my dry, sensitive skin. I wondered if there were any good alternatives at the moment.
I have a sample of Emma Hardie's moringa cleansing balm, which my skin seems to react to.
I prefer the feel of cleansing balms and hot cloth cleansing to using cleansing lotions, which my skin always seems to react to.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I like No7 cleansing balm (the one in a pot) which is very similar to Clinique Take The Day Off balm. Both in fragranced as far as I can tell, the smell of Eve Lom balm puts me off it though it is one of the best I've tried.

There's also Body Shop camomile cleansing balm, which is similar, or M&S do another in their own range. I've tried Elemis but I'm not keen on the smell of their original, the Rose version isn't too bad.

I like the Elemis one, used Eve Lom for years but I find it too harsh now.

BlackberryCitron · 23/01/2020 23:20

Elemis Rose

Espa do a beautiful balm, which I really love. It melts on then I take it off with a hot flannel. The Eve Lom one has always been too drying for my skin.

VanillaSugarr · 23/01/2020 23:33

The Liz Earle balm is very nice.

I like eve lom, prefer Emma hardie or elemis pro collagen cleansing balm. Tata harper is lovely & body shop camomile balm ok.

Ren do some xxx

BitOfFun · 23/01/2020 23:44

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Balm is very good.

I have tried so many of these! I have got oil skin but the following popular recommendations, made my skin feel too 'stripped':

Body Shop Camomile
Clinique Take the Day Off
Emma Hardie Moringa gel (the lighter one)
Ren

I get on with:

Lush Ultrabland (using this one at the moment)
Medik8 Cream Cleanse (also using this one at the moment)
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
The Superdrug one (can't remember the name!)

The Superdrug one (can't remember the name!)

Yes, this one Grin I bought it on Sali Hughes' recommendation. It's in a green tube and is a 'natural/botanical' one.

It's great for my dry skin.

The Ordinary's new rinse-off squalane balm is FAB (you can wipe it off if you prefer)

Thank you for all the ideas

Elemis is good, but I find that Decleor Micellar Oil (not the water) is better at getting rid of stubborn mascara (Benefit etc..). It might be a good first step in a double cleanse.

nocluewhattodoo · 24/01/2020 10:11

I used Eve Lom for years but switched to Liha Ose Gidi soap, obviously not a balm, but it has been incredible for my skin. You can use it wet more like a balm or let it dry and then rinse off like a mask. You can get it on net-a-porter for £12 for two bars, which last me over a month cleansing daily.

Boots botanicals do a really good one which I think is the closest I’ve found

OnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 24/01/2020 18:46

Thanks again for all the ideas. I had thought about trying a facial soap or micellar water/oil so I appreciate those suggestions too - there are so many options.
