Can you bleach your hair while pregnant?

I really want to bleach my hair but I haven't for the past 5 months because I thought it would harm the baby. I need my roots bleached, is it safe?
I've heard that it isn't very toxic but I'm unsure.

I'm not a hairdresser but as I understand it darker shades contain the most PPD which can cause allergies and has been linked to health problems. But I'm sure someone else more knowledgable will correct me if I'm wrong. Also if you are having highlights this doesn't usually touch your scalp so won't get into your bloodstream. I didnt dye mine for first 3 months and then used PPD ammonia free dye (my hair was dyed very dark at time ).
