Highlights- is this normal?

Does anyone have “money pieces” added to their hair? It looks like this - thick highlights near your face

I first had these put in (alongside a full head of highlights) last year and go back about every 3 months for toner, where my stylist adds the money pieces back into my regrowth.

HOWEVER instead of just painting the bleach onto my root regrowth as I first assumed, she actually sections my hair and then applies bleach from root to tip, overlapping the previously lightened hair. Is this normal? Bare in mind that my hair is very blonde, almost platinum, in this area.

After a year of this, my hair in this area has majorly snapped off. It almost looks like I have a thin full fringeSad can’t help but think it’s a bad technique? Or is this how it’s supposed to be done?

In my experience with highlights they have always just gone over the whole thing when touching up. That's why I started having balyage instead as it looks more natural and there is less bleaching involved once it's established.

Yes, I’ve been to a few salons and they will paint the same sections. I think I’d look at some different colour ideas if your hair is snapping.
