you need to look smart but not super corporate, and if you like to think of your style as a bit alternative/grown up grungy?

Despise the pencil skirt and shirt uniform but struggling for inspiration!

I'd love to be able to wear jeans but that would be frowned on at my work...

My work is smart casual, but I wouldn't wear jeans either.

Tailored trousers, cropped straight leg trousers, with a smartish jumper, few delicate necklaces to break it up.
As the weather softens, trousers, shirt/top/thin sweater, blazer.
In summer, I find dresses handy, plus or minus a jacket/blazer, depending on the weather and my mood.

As an example, today I'm wearing this dress and this jumper over it - I'm a cold creature - this jumper is loose but cuts off at the right level so i think it's flattering on my waist, with these boots. Couple of necklaces. It's fine, not too dressy, easy to schlep about in for the day.

Dark drop dresses (navy and black) with chunky knit cardies, bright tights and plimpsols (converse or vans) I keep a smart jacket and pair of court shoes under my desk for meetings.

Yeah I know jeans wouldn't go down well in a lot of workplaces but I go to meetings / events where being overdressed - and especially looking too corporate - can go down as badly as looking too casual. I need to fit in while still looking like I know what I'm doing. It can be a very tricky line to walk.

I like some quirky Scandi brands, they might mostly do kids stuff but Papu, Aarrekid and Danefae all do lovey dresses that are work friendly and a bit different (particularly the firs two)

Black skinny jeans with the bottoms rolled up, ankle boots, and a grey turtle neck today

Thanks for the inspiration so far! Am googling the brands and seeing what I come across

I wear slim trousers, either plain or very patterned depending on my mood with a 3/4 sleeve plain scoop neck top and a long cardigan and flats. Or a skater dress or t-shirt dress with tights and dr martens with a cardigan.
