What would you wear for dinner/drinks?

My DH has a big birthday soon and we are going out with lots of friends and family for dinner and then onwards to some bars for drinks.

I’d really love to look really nice and glam for a change as I’m usually a leggings and jumper kind of person, and when I do try and dress up I never seem to get it right!

So shamelessly asking for inspiration for what you ladies would wear for this kind of evening.

(I’m late twenties, 5’4, not exactly fat (10-12) but my arms and legs are a little out of shape so I’d rather not bare too much flesh. Also not very booby either Blush)

Silk blouse, black skinny ankle length jean, pretty heel or ankle boot and a manicure!

Sorry meant to say you could obviously go more glam but you said you always feel you get it wrong I think stick to simple but chic

Jumpsuit, heels, long loopy necklace all in single colours. I'll look at a few websites for a pic.

Mind you jumpsuits are a bugger when you need the loo quickly.

Would it not depend on what type of restaurant? I rather imagined it was a half decent restaurant and was going to suggest LBD with pretty heels but then you say you are doing a pub crawl.

In my youth we used to wear fancy dress for pub crawls so I thim rather out of date with expectations.

Black plather jeans/jeggings, sparkly top and boots. I bought a fab top for this sort of occasion in All Saints sale.

I'm 29 and a size 8-10.
For drinks I normally opt for high waist skinny jeans in black or coated leather look ones. And then bodysuit/leotard type top. They sit so nice under jeans and could cover your arms if you wanted. Always with heels.

Depending on venue for dinner I would perhaps opt for a lbd and heels x

Agree with a cigarette black pant sparkly top or dressy top and blazer / pretty jewellery and blow dry. Shellac. Light tan.

Ohyesiam · 20/01/2020 22:25

What’s your best bit op? Waist? Legs?( I know you said they are not toned, but are they good proportions), hair?
I think pps idea of jeans top and manicure is quite universally flattering, you could go for a blow dry ?

tequilasunrises · 21/01/2020 21:10

Thanks all, some great ideas here. I will definitely be getting my nails done!

@Ohyesiam to be honest I don’t really feel I have a ‘best bit’ at the moment. I’ve got quite a nice bum but I can’t really get that one out 😂 my legs are also very pale at the moment and I have cellulite. Arms are my worst bit!

I do find dark jeans flattering though.

Well there you go, dark jeans and stand with your back to everyone twerking slightly at every opportunity!

But seriously, dark jeans and a long sleeved top, maybe with a bit of sparkle and a neckline that suites you.
I always feel attractive and confident when my hair looks good, so maybe a blow dry/ highlights/ trim, whatever is your standby.
