J Crew shipping is £15

I've found some nice things in the sale but if shipping is £15 they're not much of a bargain.
Is it always this much or just when the sales on?
No promo codes to be found.

Blimey it used to be free - won’t be ordering from there again

botemp · 20/01/2020 19:46

I'm not in the UK but Zalando carries J. Crew here with free shipping, Zalando brands seem to vary by country but worth a look if they stock it in the UK too. I'm pretty sure it's a partner setup so essentially you're shopping with J. Crew directly.

Sooverthemill · 20/01/2020 20:17

I regularly buy reduced jeans from j crew and have never paid shipping. Or taxes or customs. But I've never bought in a 'sale' just reduced iyswim

Inliverpool1 · 20/01/2020 20:36

It’s never been a bargain tbh and with taxes I honestly think I’d rather find things in the uk

Ponks · 21/01/2020 00:04

Think John Lewis sell some J Crew

baileysandamincepie · 21/01/2020 08:35

I realise all our Google algorithms are different, but when I search J Crew, all I get is the usual paid ad link to their site, then wikipedia, then all their own social media accounts, then a load of ads from all the sites and stores that list them....absolutely no news articles, reviews, general sites where they feature.

Basically I was looking for a reason behind the new p+p costs. When they launched in the UK about 5 years ago, it was free shipping and returns via Borderfree, and regular 20% + discount codes. I know Jenna Lyons left as CEO on 2017 but have things really gone downhill, or has the international market failed for them?

Sooverthemill · 21/01/2020 09:57

@baileysandamincepie I've bought from them direct last year a dno shipping fees. John Lewis no longer stock which is really annoying as I used to buy from there. Now I can't travel anymore I'm fed up if they are bunging on shipping. I may email them!

SittingwithPippa · 21/01/2020 10:48

Thanks for the comments.
I can't be the only one put off by exorbitant shipping.
The returns process doesn't look straightforward either. Maybe they don't want our business?

I was asked for £30 to return something. It only cost £59! I ended up having it tailored as it made more sense in the long run.

divawithafever · 21/01/2020 12:15

Don't think John Lewis stock J-crew anymore....

Lumene · 21/01/2020 18:00

Yep they say returns are ‘free’ but the shipping cost almost as much as the necklace I bought in the first place. No way would I buy from them online again.

SittingwithPippa · 21/01/2020 18:25

I've just been reading some Trust Pilot reviews, there are plenty of unhappy customers on there.
J Crew can wait until I next go to Regent St.

Even in the US I had to pay for returns last time I sent something back. About $8. I rarely send things back as I’ve worked out my sizing with them well, but I was miffed they now charge and it’s put me off a bit.

Sooverthemill · 21/01/2020 18:52

It's a shame as I absolutely love their jeans and trousers. For me they are a perfect fit
