Replica bags?

mclover · 19/01/2020 21:19

So a girl can dream - I'd love to have a fancy handbag, but I couldn't spend £1000 on a bag. Just idly looking at some beauties online and came across 'replica online.cn' - it's got lots of copies of bags for like £150-£200. So still a lot of money but I could save to that. Has anyone ever used this site? Or do you think they will run off into the sunset with my money? If so then I'm back to dreaming!

Never used the site but are they just fake knock offs? What sort of bag are you looking for, would you be able to get a "genuine" bag that is similar to the ones you have seen.

WwfLeopard · 19/01/2020 21:29

I rather buy genuine and 2nd hand than a fake. Some really good stuff online, definitely get something nice for a couple of 100 and authentic

mclover · 19/01/2020 21:33

Oh I wish - I get to go out about 4 times a year so really couldn't justify a genuine one. So for example was looking at these YSL bags - usually £1300!!! On this site for £200. Just fake knock offs. I've been scouring the genuine secondhand sites but even then they are £800. My common sense says if it's too good to be true then it probably is

just buy a handbag for 200, why does it need to be a fake YSL?

mclover · 19/01/2020 21:35

Just had a look on trust pilot and it has 0 reviews so probably a scam

Fake handbags are used to fund all sorts of nasty shit. I sell preloved designer handbags (insured/taxed/VAT registered etc) and some Mulberry that retail for £1295 now sell for £500. For £200 you could get a mulberry, Kate Spade, Hill & Friends, Vivienne Westwood etc. Fake bags are immediately identifiable to those who have the real thing and it's far worse than just carrying unbranded.

mclover · 19/01/2020 21:38

@KatharinaRosalie have you ever just fallen in love with a particular bag? It's the YSL one with tassels, so nice!

@StylishMummy yes that's true, I hadn't thought of the wider picture. Don't want to be funding terrorism or something! Can you recommend any good second had sites! I've been looking at HEWI and naughty pigeons

What stylish said. I would much rather spend £50 on a high street bag styled like a designer bag than pay for a fake one

StylishMummy · 19/01/2020 21:59

NPN bags
Luxury Labels
Labels most wanted
The Finer Things Aberdeen

All small businesses run by very knowledgeable people who can also help source the right thing for you

PatricksRum · 19/01/2020 22:01

Counterfeit items are work of the devil.
I don't understand why anyone would buy them.
If you cannot afford a designer handbag then just get one from the high street.

mclover · 19/01/2020 22:13

@StylishMummy thank you! Off to have a look now ...

@StylishMummy do you have a website for your pre-loved bags?

I love the ysl bags. Think the OP has good taste. It's a killer having champagne taste on a ginger beer budget OP

I bought a fake chanel flap and the quality is amazing. But, if I won the lottery I wouldn't have bought that particular bag, so really it was a waste of money even at the fraction of the price of the real thing. I never use it.

mclover · 20/01/2020 07:49

@TheYearOfTheDog haha exactly, I have a ginger beer budget and three small children so never go out anywhere that isn't soft play or a farm . But on the one night of the year I do go out I dream of looking and feeling fabulous. (would also need to loose about 4 stone as well so maybe a really big bag to hide my fat bum)

@StylishMummy is it 'cool' or not cool at all to have an older bag? Is it seen as retro cool or more like old fashioned? Seen some nice bags second hand on the sites you mention (thank you) and when I look at the current bags there are small updates, so different straps for example. Would I look like I'm out with 'last years look' or are all bags just nice? Sorry I'm not the most stylish as you can probably tell but I'm trying!

Have a look at michael kors. They are in your price range and very good quality.

TheYearOfTheDog · 20/01/2020 17:16

Id rather have a knockoff ysl than a michael kors bag.
Coccinelle or coach or fossil might be worth a look. Or if you like trendy bags and they dont have to be leather look at guess. Michael kors bags just ubiquitous 😦😴

WwfLeopard · 20/01/2020 17:47

Snap @theyearofthedog 😂

Mumof31981 · 20/01/2020 18:22

Are you anywhere near Bicester or any other outlet type shopping centre? You can get Kate Spade bags for under £100. The first bag I would buy if I came into alot of money would be a Chanel one. Don't know names of them but they are all pretty

kmini · 20/01/2020 18:45

What's the point of fakes - the whole reaon (IMO) of buying designer is that you are getting something that's quality, something that should last. Just parading something that gives the impression of quality (assuming the knock off is good) is silly if it doesn't have the actual underlying quality. Do I makes sense?

I bought a fake purse when I was young and I promise that its not like i haven't been tempted since - I couldnt help telling people is wasnt real when I was complemented on it. It just felt false!

So many wonderful independent brands or even high street brands producing lovely quality bags in your price range. Don't waste your money on toot!

PatricksRum · 21/01/2020 02:47

Everything @kmini said.
I can always spot the fakes. I think it's so unclassy.
