Help me with skin care routine

I've realised now that I've hit my 40s that using face wash and applying moisturiser twice a day isn't enough! I'm planning on a complete fresh start but I'm so overwhelmed by all of the products available. I've looked at the Caroline Hirons cheat sheets but I'm still none the wiser. Can someone please tell me what I need and what my morning and evening routine should be please?! I'm early 40s with dry, sensitive skin which still looks fairly youthful but I have a sallow complexion so anything that brightens it would be great. I get the occasional spot when my period is due but I've never really suffered with acne. I wear make up daily and I stay out of the sun as I burn easily. Help please!

Lol it’s a mine field I’ve spent £100s
Save your pennies and go for simple sls free cleanser and a moisturiser sent free with hyaluronic acid. I’m still searching to be honest not found anything perfect.
What you using now?

I just use a Nivea face wash and moisturiser, if I've been out and have heavier make up on I'll use micellar water first to take my make up off. I wasn't planning on spending a fortune, will probably buy from The Ordinary but I'm confused by all the acids and I'm not sure which order to use everything in.

Hi OP, if you go onto The Ordinary's website you can email them and tell them your skin current concerns and they will email you a product regime recommdation! Great customer service.

Second the ordinary regime.

I short however you prob need:

Make Up remover (pm)
Cleanser (am and PM- balm cleanser usuall rec for dry)
Exfoliation- something with glycolic or Salyllic or both (pm)
VIT C - for brightening and glow (am or PM or both(
Retinol - generally anti aging problems
Moisturising (am) - squalene or a lighter moisturiser or serum that sits well under make up
Moisturiser (pm) oil like rose hip or just something that's ultra moisturising
SPF (am)
