Full length dress

Is it appropriate to wear a full length dress (all day) to a wedding? I'm trying to choose my outfit as a guest at SIL's wedding at the end of the month. DH keeps pointing out long dresses he thinks would be good, but for some reason I feel like a midi dress might be more suitable? Does it matter?

Hi there. Depends what it looks like. Xx

Unless it's black tie or you're a bridesmaid I think midi would-be more suitable.

That’s like a bridesmaid dress, I would go midi

@MoltonSilver That was my initial feeling, but then I wondered if it was really a rule or one I'd be imposing on myself!

I think etiquette is that long dresses are just for evening, but I've been to so many weddings where everyone is wearing evening dresses that I think it's fine.
