Black party dress + opaques + trainers?

I've got a house party coming up and wanted to wear a black slouchy mini dress, going for a dressy but insouciant sort of look. I'd definitely wear black opaques for this (bare legs not an option for me) which leads me to my footwear dilemma...

I don't want to do party heels, cos I don't want to look too try-hard, plus can't bear uncomfortable shoes any more. Do you think I'm better off wearing sparkly black ankle boots, or black leather trainers with a white sole? Is trainers with opaque tights a thing? Or do I need to go shopping?

I'm late forties and short-arsed btw.

I think trainers would look better with bare legs, so maybe the sparkly boots. Whatever you are comfortable with is best though. Have you tried both options on? Bear in mind the host may ask people to take shoes off, happened to me once and I’d spent ages debating what shoes to wear.

I've been known to wear a black short hush dress with opaques and sequin converse hi tops... But appreciate this may not be the most stylish... Very comfy tho 😂

Trainers. Looks cool on my two gorgeous trendy friends!

What about ballet flats?

You can totally wear trainers with black opaque tights. Wear what you like.
