Sore crack at corner of mouth

I've had a very sore corner of mouth for a few days now, and now have a crack at the corner of my lips. It's not a Cold sore as I have never had one before and is painful when I open my mouth or smile. I've been putting lots of moisturiser on. What is it?! What can I do?

Hoolihan is right, it’s usually a sign of iron deficiency and being run down, I use to get them too. I found putting as much Vaseline as you can on helped as pp have suggested.

I have this, or something similar. I put Daktarin on and it became so infected I ended up having to take antibiotics! My GP asked what my diet was like and I have to admit it's not been great lately. He gave more a high potency vitamin B complex tablet which has helped a bit. Is your diet ok, OP. Maybe something to look at.

Thanks all....so much! I'll try some Sudocrem. Also trying Daktarin. Throwing everything at it!

I used to get this all the time. Mine turned out to be B12 deficiency too. If it becomes reoccurring might be worth seeing GP for a B12 check.
I haven't had it happen since I've been on B12 injections
