Boots and jeans

Hello, I’ve got ankle grazer jeans and new boots.

Not sure whether I should be wearing the jeans tucked in or rolled up though.

I know the problem. I just put the boots on and let them either scrunch up or half sit over the top of the boot.
Style it out!

I think slightly above the boot looks good. Love the colour of your jeans btw!

BettyJean · 15/01/2020 13:23

Thank you. I’ve just but the same ones in green. They’re from gap.

Agree that slightly above the boot looks better

Sexnotgender · 15/01/2020 13:40

Rolled up.

Santasy · 15/01/2020 13:44

Just above definitely

BettyJean · 15/01/2020 13:57

So just above the boot?

Either rolled up, or not rolled up but just let them sit on top of the boot.

Definitely not tucked in though!

I prefer them scrunched, I think rolled looks too chunky and a bit hipster.

Wingingitsince2018 · 15/01/2020 14:23

I vary it depending on the rest of the outfit.

Rolled up with a chunky jumper, casual jacket and my leather backpack on days off.

Left down (but not tucked!) with a shirt, smart longline coat and handbag for work/smarter look

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/01/2020 14:29

They look better above the boot, but rolled up always looks a bit twee to me. Either get the jeans hemmed or fold them up inside (if there's room) to the right length.

BettyJean · 15/01/2020 14:54

Fold them up inside?

OP posts:
poorbuthappy · 15/01/2020 14:55

Both!

BettyJean · 15/01/2020 15:05

The jeans are a nice length with trainers, as they sit just above the ankle.

I think the boots are a bit tight around the leg and maybe better with skirts.

I’ve been walking around for a couple of hours and the jean hem sits about 2 Cm below the top of the boot. So letting them scrunch up may be the answer.

I’m probably a bit old for folded up hipster style, at 41.

Thanks for all your tips!

By fold them up inside, I mean turn the leg up to the correct length, but tuck it inside, rather than folding it so that it's outside the leg. This only really works with skinny jeans that have a little bit of space at the ankle for the excess fabric.

BettyJean · 15/01/2020 16:47

Thanks Blair!

I’m going to have an experiment tonight as I have the jeans in 2 colours.

Like I said, they look nice with trainers as they sit just above the ankle. It’s a bit too cold for thin trainer socks at the moment though.

Rolled up. I'm much closer to 50 than 40 and I still roll up. We don't have hipsters round here though.

BettyJean · 16/01/2020 08:16

Maybe I’ll try the rolling up. I live in Manchester so we have plenty of hipsters in certain areas!

OP posts:
NiteFlights · 16/01/2020 08:27

I think rolled, but it might be better with a more definite sock. I guess that is a more hipsterish look though 😀

However I also think the boots would look better with a skirt. It’s a combination of the ‘tightness’ and the length of the boot, that is not quite working with the jeans, although it looks perfectly fine. I can picture those jeans looking fantastic with trainers. The boots are lovely and I’m
envious as they would not suit me!

BettyJean · 16/01/2020 08:33

Thank you!

Boots are from H&M, only £30 but look quite expensive.

I have a much more expensive pair of boots from Aldo, which are a bit wider and lower around the ankle, may be better with jeans.

Scrunched always! I just put my boots in and let my jeans do their own thing! I live in Manchester too and I’m 48 abs no one looks at me weird for having them scrunched!! 😂😂

And men wonder why we have so many shoes!!! Grin

@NiteFlights

I’m going to have to buy an extra cupboard for mine! 😂

I've given up trying to wear this sort of boot with jeans! I stick to a skirt and wear my jeans with trainers or lace-up chunky flat boots like these www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,42/3820400000

LaBelleSauvage123 · 16/01/2020 17:07

Can I ask - why not tucked in?
