I’m trying to bag a bargain for spring/summer when I live in white trainers.

Geox are one of the only brands I can comfortably wear in summer (they don’t rub my awkward feet and ALL other trainers seem to in summer when I don’t wear socks)

But are they nice? Spring/summery enough, with the black stripe?

Stylish at all or just meh?

Am I overthinking this?? It’s still a lot for me to spend though (am on budget) even at 30% off so it’s a major purchase I don’t want to regret!

I like them, OP. They look light enough for summer definitely. I scuff shoes too easily to consider white ones though!

BallstoFLeBay · 13/01/2020 22:29

Ooh I really like those 👍🏻 M&S have some lovely ones in too (never thought I'd be raving about M&S trainers!!)

HepburnKNotA · 13/01/2020 22:32

Oh I will look at m&s too Balls... will be less ££ I expect!!

Some nice m&s ones (I like the knitted) but knowing me they would just rub my feet... I never know how most people seem to be able to wear any old shoe and they don’t rub! Most shoes turn my feet to shreds (without socks).

Knitted ones might not though! Are knitted trainers a Thing now? My very fashion conscious SIL wears them but I think hers are the cost of a small oil field.

Invisible socks (around £4 for 5 pairs in primark are your friend here. Not the ones that slip on your toes and hold at the heel with a silicone strip though - they’re useless. The ones I use are kinda like soft cotton mesh and they go over your whole foot but don’t have the annoying lip on the ankle that old style trainer socks do, meaning they’re truly are invisible when wearing trainers. Might mean you can widen your trainer search - though the Geox ones are nice :)

Paddy1234 · 13/01/2020 22:43

I like them!

silver1977 · 13/01/2020 22:43

Love those Geox ones! Love the metallic stripe! If you know they won't rub your feet then they're worth every penny surely?

babblingbumblingbandofbaboons · 13/01/2020 22:43

If you google Primark sports footies you will see the ones I mean!

HepburnKNotA · 13/01/2020 22:44

Baboons... primark, you say??? I have NEVER been able to find truly invisible trainer socks... this could change my life... are they invisible enough the wear under (fairly cut-away) baller pumps too???

They sell Geox trainers online in TK Maxx for £25 - worth looking there first

babblingbumblingbandofbaboons · 14/01/2020 07:15

The sports footies aren’t any good for using with ballet pumps as they actually come over the top of your foot too (but are hidden by the laced up part of the trainer). But there is another type that they do that can be used with ballet pumps - more like the typical trainer sock type with a grip band all the way round (this stops them slipping off). If you google Primark lace footies you’ll see the ones I mean.

The sports ones come in masses of colours but what you buy won’t matter as you won’t see them. The lace ones come in black, white, nude and a few pinky tones, and although they’re invisible in most ballet pumps I tend to buy black for black, nude/pink for everything else as sometimes you see a small lace edge iyswim. Both of these have made my shoes and trainers comfier and longer lasting!

Apileofballyhoo · 14/01/2020 08:56

Knitted seem to be a thing all right! I like the ones you've linked.

HepburnKNotA · 14/01/2020 10:30

Thanks everyone!

Love the idea of the lacy footies to wear under ballet pumps, baboons - I have 2 pairs of lovely ballet pumps that I almost never wear because of the whole hellish blistering thing so this may save me money as I might have 2 'new' pairs of shoes already in my wardrobe FOR FREE! They're very cut-away but for the sake of a fiver I will try the lacy footies with them and hope it works.

I've ordered the Geox ones which (thanks to the backing from here) I am now confident that I really REALLY love Grin. Looking forward to trying them with spring-type outfits when they arrive, I feel a bit of a try-on session coming on (anything to get through the January nights...)
