Outfit for a 40th

Hi ladies, I'm wondering if you have seen any fab dresses or tops out there which would be suitable for a 40th my best friend is having?

I'm a size 10 pear around 5.4 - usually live in jeans as my thighs aren't wonderful but could possibly get away with a dress if it's not too short!

Any suggestions would be wonderful! Smile

would you wear a jumpsuit? maybe one like this?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/01/2020 18:02

What kind of party is it? There are loads of dresses in the sales at the moment.

Apileofballyhoo · 12/01/2020 18:13

How dressed up will people be - will a top and jeans be ok?

octopusrus · 12/01/2020 18:34

Forgot to say budget is around £80 max.

I think it'll be a bit of a mixture but more dressed up than not. Jeans fine as long as it's with a v posh top!

Ooh sleep I love that jumpsuit! Haven't bought from littlewoods before, any idea whether things come up big/small?

Did you order the jumpsuit, OP?

Elouera · 15/01/2020 15:51

It really depends on your body shape? Go online to work it out: inverted triangle, pear, hourglass, apple etc and it will come back with flattering styles to suit your shape. Also tips on how to hide certain features and accentuate others.
Also, what colours suit your eyes/complexion/hair etc? let us know your shape & colours so we advise accordingly.

Elouera · 15/01/2020 16:09

Sorry, just re-read and saw you already say you are pear shaped! What style of dresses suit you? Flared, A-line,
pencil, straight?
Also, your colouring or what colours suit you?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 15/01/2020 17:09

they usually come up pretty true to size for me x

sleepismysuperpower1 · 15/01/2020 17:12

although I just realised the jumpsuit is by the brand Quiz rather V by Very (which is the brand I have bought off there) so I would look at the jumpsuits reviews x

I went to a 40th last week (I'm 48!) and wore this with pleather trousers:

I would totally wear it with jeans too and heels. Makes you feel v glam!

ChopOrNot · 15/01/2020 19:35

I have just bought this. Looks lovely with jeans.

ballyhoo am ordering this evening I think! Although the reviews say they come up long so I'm still shopping around in case it won't work to take it up...it's really nice but depends on the fit, I'm varying sizes in each shop!

Elouera I suit more fitted, straightish dresses I think, and just above the knee seems to be most flattering rather than midi or mini.
I'm brown hair down to almost boobs, and brown eyes! I'm open to most colours apart from I don't really think pastels do much for me.

mrslebon and chopornot I really like both those blouses! And I'd possibly get more wear out of a blouse in terms of wearing it again....always nice to have a new frock though so I might have to look for both GrinGrin

Wear a more expensive and luxurious version of what you usually wear. If you can afford it, get your hair and or nails done for the event too.
