Hair dyeing

Maybe there are some hairdressers on here who can advise. My normal hair colour is lousy brown. I bought Olia dark brown hair dye but it turned out black. I have kept it like this for a couple of years but I really would like it dark brown. If I was to buy a light brown and put it on the black would it lighten the black.

No. Colour on top of colour goes dark.

No, it wouldn't lighten it.

However, after a few washes the colour will fade slightly anyway, even if it's permanent. When I had brown hair I always went a shade up from what I actually wanted because it always turned out darker.

But don't try and put anything else on it, you will just damage your hair.
