First date outfit

I need help deciding what to wear on a first date oh wise ones!

It's in 2 weeks, we are meeting at a posh hotel (where he is staying), then going out for dinner and drinks.

I'm slim, size 8, 5'2" and like fitted things as anything shapeless or baggy makes me look like a tramp!

It's been 18 years since I went on a date (was married) and I don't know what to wear!

I want to look sophisticated but cool, be comfy but sexy.... help!!

Plenty time to shop and have decent budget if I need something new....

I truly believe that first dates are never a time to try a new look or buy something new. Just wear something you love, and makes you feel like your best self.

If you're desperate to buy some thing new, buy something you love, feels like you and is something you'll wear again. Also, try to wear whatever you buy before the date otherwise you might find that your beloved new item(s) isn't comfortable/doesn't fit well/rides up/creases horrendously/etc

That's good advice thank you. I have a really nice burgundy leather skirt and a black wool top.

I love it and it makes me look really slim but I don't know if that's appropriate or not.

Gah this dating lark!

That sounds like a lovely outfit, he’ll be knocked out

How did you meet? Have you seen each other before?

bettertimesarecomingnow · 11/01/2020 13:30

Online dating. We've never met but we have seen photos of each other. Have spoken on the phone too

He's really cute!! I'm so nervous

I thought I'd do opaque tights and high heeled ankle boots too

Your outfit sounds lovely op, do you have a coat/jacket/blazer to go with it? Also a handbag and accessories? Burgundy and black are so versatile colourwise, you could add grey, brown, aubergine to them?

Tbh I wouldn't make that much effort if you've never met him. I mean I wouldn't buy anything new, not go like a scruff bag. I learnt by experience on OLD to meet for a coffee, not dinner and drinks. Just in case he's awful or the conversation doesn't flow. Good luck though, I hope he's lovely. Skirt and top sound fine. Please let us know how it goes Smile

It's freezing here right now so I planned to wear a long coat black coat and a scarf with greys and burgundy in.

Have talked most nights and messaged etc and he seems nice but who knows?!! I have 11 days left to wait which seems an eternity.... I'll update then!

I'm nervous already.
