What shoes with navy straight leg chinos?

Hello, I'm trying to look more stylish and less scruffy. People who have their sh*t together, please help me!

What shoes are good with these straight leg navy chinos? I own red ballet flats and white trainers which I think look nice. I have been wearing burgundy brogues all the time recently, but suspect these will not be the right thing with the chinos.

What's the general opinion on black shoes with these?

When people say pumps, what do they mean? Ballet pumps?

I do tan brogue with my similar navy / grey / maroon chinos.

Black shoes wouldn't be my first choice to go with navy trousers.

I wouldn't wear black with navy trousers. I'd go leopard, metallic, tan or nude.

Those trousers look lovely and I would wear them with loafers but not in January, they would be lovely for the Spring or in the summer with sandals
