Over the years the hair at the front of my head has receded further and further. I dream of bouncy beautiful hair but mine is just too thin and ages me incredibly (I'm only 42...). I've stumbled upon the Lucinda Ellery website and the transformations using their intralace system are incredible. Reviews online are, mostly, positive. I've booked myself in for a consultation. Before I potentially spend a bucket full of money... any present or past Ellery customers on here ? I'll be visiting the London office. Feedback most appreciated !!

Whilst there are some negative reviews, LE has a lot of very satisfied customers! When I was researching this, I decided when the time comes, I'd try Mark Glenn (her ex husbsnd!). Good luck, OP, and let us know how it goes.

NewHorizons2020 · 10/01/2020 10:50

@PaprikaPringle thank you for mentioning Mark Glen - I've made appointments at both now and will update you !

If you search hair loss on Gransnet ,there is a lady who has this hair system, but it needs replacing or some kind of treatment every s often,
It is very expensive,i wish i could afford it, my hair has bare patches everywhere, and having a scalp biopsy next week

PaprikaPringle · 10/01/2020 13:17

Yes, it does need maintenance and is expensive but (if you've got the money) - it's an investment in yourself.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on, OP Smile

I have a hair system! I have mine done at Hairsolved, which also have salons in London.

I have also been to Lucinder Ellery, but I didn’t like her son who did my consultation.

I’m 40, happy to send you pictures Smile

I have had it for 2 years now

NewHorizons2020 · 10/01/2020 14:25

@sleepthiefismyfavourite - yes please !! The back of my head is thin but not as much as the front which is receding as well

My bald patches are at the front and sides, but it’s very sparse at the back too.

Oops not sure why the last picture posted 😂

NewHorizons2020 · 10/01/2020 15:04

Thanks so much @sleepthiefismyfavourite - your hair is just like mine and looks absolutely fantastic in the second picture ! May I ask what your paying at hairsolved ? I've got an idea re Lucinda Ellery, Mark Glenn has pricing on their site but Hairsolved don't.

The initial outlay is approx £1500 but the I have appointments every 4 weeks to have the system tightened. These cost £50 per time

Every 6 months it comes off and is realigned, and I get new hair every year which can cost a few hundred more 😬

It’s very expensive but in my opinion more than worth it, and I generally just put it on the credit card!

PaprikaPringle · 10/01/2020 16:46

That looks fantastic @Sleepthiefismyfavourite

princessTiasmum · 11/01/2020 11:08

Sleep miy hair is like yours in the before pics you posted,i am so fed up with it, but can't afford that system, i am looking into getting a wig, but hate the thought,
Mine isn't yet as bad at the front ,but it is going that way, the back is the worst

Sleepthiefismyfavourite · 11/01/2020 13:35

@princessTiasmum If I could find a wig that looked completely not like a wig, I would rather have that to be honest, as it’s very expensive to keep this up. If you manage to find one please do post on here to let me know

Depending on where you are in the country these guys are in Sowerby Bridge & very good www.vervehairloss.co.uk/

I had a friend who had alopecia, she went to Mark not Lucinda. She said it was very painful, both during and for a few days after (although she sadly also had scalp infections as part of her autoimmune illness). She lasted a year and then bought very expensive wigs, although her hair loss was severe. I think Sarah Vine (daily mail journalist) might use Lucinda.

NewHorizons2020 · 15/01/2020 15:28

Thank you everyone who posted ! I visited Mark Glen earlier this week and it was alright. They advised me that their weave system didn't suit me as I still have too much hair (the irony as sadly my hair loss is more at the parting and front). They suggested extensions. They stock acryllic extensions (no human hair extensions available). They kindly fitted a couple into my hair. I've had extensions a few years back, not keen on getting them again and especially not keen on acrylic as it reminded me a bit of my DD's barbies and their hair. They also recommended a topper wig as alternative and suggested a salon close to them that offer this service. In truth, although the lady I met was lovely I left a bit dejected.

Just been to hair-solved in Barnet and have booked my fitting ! Contrary to the other salon, hair-solved CAN fit their system. Felt really looked after, went through everything in detail and the lady I met really knew what she was talking about (I think she mentioned she had worked at LE for a long time previously). Salon not too far from me (an hours drive). So excited now !

@sleepthiefismyfavourite may I ask you if you pas as you go or do you the monthly maintenance plan ? I'm planning long term and just need to work out what's best. Any advice based on you experience most appreciated !

I have been to LE and Mark Glen. LE at the start of my hair loss/thinning where I had extentions done but frankly they made it worse and after a couple of years gave up. I then went to M Glenn an had a system fitted I had it for a few years then had a new one made. So in total about 6 years of this type of system. Eventually the pain of having it attached to my thin fragile hair and towards the end my very painful sensitive scalp I decided to have it removed. Also the cost was really adding up as follow up adjustment appointments are every 4 weeks.
This was just over a year ago. I went to a wig salon in Bayswater very near to M Glenn salon. It is called Trendco. I had practically no hair by this time and the little i had was very fine and fluffy.

Although this shop did not have all the wigs I wanted to try in stock they were knowledgeable and I left wearing one after trying on lots of wigs based on my previous style.
I know buy my wigs on line much cheaper from Simply wigs a brilliant company and if the wig you order is not to your taste you can send it back.
At work NO one guessed I have been wearing a wig for the last year until I told someone last week. The wigs available know are so realistic and natural and when you get used to them are great.

Sleepthiefismyfavourite · 19/01/2020 20:22

@NewHorizons2020 great news! I don’t do the care plan, I pay as I go. I don’t think the care plan is that good value to be honest.

I go every 5 weeks for a maintenance appointment, and have it realigned every 6 months.

When is your appointment? How exciting!

mmn124 · 03/02/2020 03:03

Hi been to hair solved this week for consultation, can anyone who has the system tell me if it damages your own hair as this will be a lifetime choice also if anyone has the silk parting as was told this type of parting do not last long ,but it looks more realistic ,also how expensive will it be is it like they tell you or is it more expensive than they make out .Would appreciate any feedback as i am a bit apprehensive.

NewHorizons2020 · 03/02/2020 08:41

@mmn124 I've had the system put in last week at hairsolved and I'm really, really pleased so far. This is mine, this morning after spin class. I washed it yesterday (takes ages to rough dry as using on cold with dryer and I've got lots more hair now) and not yet styled it. Once styled, it will look a lot sleeker so this is my worst case scenario from now on and I'm really really happy about that ! I went for the synthetic parting as I couldn't tell the difference during consultation and wanted to get the cheapest option initially. I've got my follow up appointment tomorrow and will get them to adjust my fringe a bit. Hope this helps & good luck !
