Hair dye

Hi, I got my hair redone a few months ago with my balayage freshened up. The hairdresser has gone too high and way way to light and I hate it. Just wanted something subtle. I'm naturally a mid brown. I've left it for about 6 weeks and I've been using brunette shampoo to help darken it which is a bit better but I'm still not happy. I'd like to get a box dye, just a mid brown - would it be safe to use as the lightened bits are a bit warmer without them going green and would they turn out lighter then the darker bits?

You do a toner if your hair is that brassy color that happens sometimes when bleaching it. If you dye your hair and you like it there is no bright yellow or orange, then you don't need it. Its just something done to help pull that orange or yellow out. It doesn't dye your hair it just helps correct that brassy look. So you can use it immediately after you dye your hair if its needed. The salon always applies it to my hair (if needed toner chart) right after being dyed while its still wet. But when doing my roots at home somtimes I'll be busy and wait a day or two. Thats if I'm not going anywhere and can deal with yellowish or orange hair until then haha. But it depends on the color. Id you like it leave it alone if its too orange or yellow use the toner. Doing it yourself Sallys is way better then using a box dye from walmart. My stylist went with me and showed me everything to get to do my roots to save money between visits. Shes a good friend so that helps lol
