Oh gawd please save me and my hair...

I need a tool of some kind to stop me having spaniel-ear hair syndrome every morning. I'm hoping to find something that will smooth like a straightener but not flatten me out completely - does such a thing exist? I have slightly longer that shoulder length hair with a fringe, greasy roots and oddly a lot of hair, but it's quite thin. Could have a nice wave to it with the correct tools I'm sure. Is there some sort of heated styling brush that will save my mornings? I am starting a new job next month so feeling the pressure to look a little nicer.
Have been using the same pair of ghds for over a decade and while they do the job they are meant to, the poker straight 2006 look isn't particularly in vogue at the moment!
Any recommendations for a heated brush that can quickly tame and style my mop?

Dyson air wrap?

Batiste dry schampoo for your roots. Straighten your hair, then use your straightener to curl your hair (not the end bits and not the roots. Comb through carefully so that you’ll get waves and not curls. Straighten just the end bits of your hair if you want. There are lots of videos on YouTube. But you need a dry schampoo.

Be careful with the dry shampoo as it can irritate your scalp.
I would just scrunch my hair a bit after combing it and maybe spray it with beach waves type spray.

I was actually really impressed by my babyliss Big Hair. But went to a pixie in my transition to grey....and never went back!

Try the Revlon One Step heated brush - have had it for a few weeks and it’s pretty good salacam.site/index.php/revlon-one-step-hair-dryer-volumizer-hot-air-brush-black-rvdr5222.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImbHkqvrz5gIVCbrtCh3xDA15EAQYBSABEgKhV_D_BwE

Thank you! Dry shampoo makes my hair go incredibly static, and time wise, I'd like something magic that takes little time. Is there some sort of smoothing brush device out there? Straightening then curling sounds like the work I would do for a special event rather than every day!
People do rave about Big hair that's for sure. Will take a look at the Revlon one also.

Have tried several fancy beach wave type sprays over the years and achieved mostly sticky clumps. User error likely though!

The Revlon one is literally a smoothing brush device. I don’t straighten my hair afterwards when I use this.Smile

Following with interest as I have the exact same hair. If I straighten and then curl it drops out almost immediately because my hair is so fine - there's just loads of it!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 08/01/2020 18:08

I have wavy/puffy/flyaway/frizzy hair.

I use the babyliss straightening brush. It leaves volume at the roots and doesn’t flatten your hair like straighteners. You just look like you’ve taken the time to blow dry it. I wash my hair at night, let it air dry then it takes me 5-7 minutes in the morning to do a full head of bra strap length hair.

It’s also cheap!

@Snoopysimaginaryfriend hello friend frizzy - I will post links to the best deals for products recommended - perhaps we can try one each and do a swap if they dont work!

To get a nice wave, it helps to not keep scorching it with straighteners!

Roundles · 09/01/2020 00:07

@pickachew - definitely! I might post a photo of my morning spaniel ears - I'm that desperate for recommendations
