Having never been to a wedding as an adult, I am now due to be attending 2 this summer, same circle of friends attending both. I have no idea what people wear to weddings! I've had zero reason to dress up at all for the last 7 years so have nothing suitable at all really.

I have my eye on this set www.whitedoe.co/ree-ree-skirt-in-blush but don't know if it's dressy enough? (One wedding is in a barn which is what I had this in mind for) Is the red too much for a wedding? I also like the dark green colour they do. I like that I could wear the skirt and top separately after the wedding so don't mind spending a bit more, plus I have time to save. No clue what shoes I'd wear with it though, minimal strappy sandals? I never wear shoes other than trainers day to day so would ideally like a pair of shoes I could wear to both weddings.

But I will need two different outfits so any suggestions welcome!

I'm mid twenties, pale, elbow length brown hair, 5'5" and a pear shape with a huge arse Grin trousers are sadly a no as I have 14" difference between waist and hips and they never look right when altered.

I think the outfit would be fine for the barn wedding but not with your midriff showing. Some pictures of the outfit display a lot of midriff, some don't

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/01/2020 12:36

I don't think any of them are suitable for a wedding to be honest, in colour of style.
I'd go for something pastel(y) e.g. Mint green, baby blue, lilac, baby pink, peach.

Stressedoutaboutinlaws · 06/01/2020 12:37

I dont think that is suitable for a wedding, sorry. It looks like its made out of a denim or similar material?? Im sure you could get something like that but in a silky material which would make it more dressy imo

nocluewhattodoo · 06/01/2020 16:15

They are made in a satin material made from bamboo, so silky and shiny in real life. The model is also 6 foot tall so there wouldn't be as much skin on show on me. I'd thought it best to avoid pastel shades as people tend to use them for the wedding party/bridesmaids.

i think midriff is a no. As you say the model is taller but she may not have a long torso & it looks much shorter on the blonde.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/01/2020 16:25

Oh that’s a good point. Do you like floral patterns

gigiblanks · 06/01/2020 16:25

You don't have to wear pastels, are they in the Summer?

GrannyBags · 06/01/2020 16:29

I don’t think it’s dressy enough for a wedding, even one in a barn.

nocluewhattodoo · 06/01/2020 17:02

Love florals, only colour I don't really suit is blue. I've had dresses from Ghost previously for balls, that sort of thing is wedding suitable right?

They're not at all wedding appropriate, barn or not.

Ghost satin dresses might be a bit bridesmaidey, unless you go for their patterned dresses.

RusselHoward · 06/01/2020 17:07

Similar vibe but more appropriate for a guest from ghost:

This for example is lovely, smart but not over the top and you can wear it after the wedding more casually.

nocluewhattodoo · 06/01/2020 19:42

Ooh that's beautiful @RusselHoward

No to a midriff at a wedding unless bride has stressed a very casual dress code. Skirt and top not a terrible idea

The Barn wedding might not be as casual as you might think, some pretty posh barns converted for weddings. Obviously if the bride is decorating her dads barn and you will be sitting on a hay bales then dress code will be more casual.

Most venues have loads of pictures online and if you search the venue on Instagram lots of people will be have uploaded pictures.

KundaliniRising · 06/01/2020 19:58

Would something like this work op? I love wearing mine, it is so summery and would be perfect for a barn wedding.

CottonSock · 06/01/2020 20:01

Following as attending a barn type wedding this summer!

Lucked · 06/01/2020 20:03

Ghost would be great also look at Hope and Ivy and Kitri Studio

peachypetite · 06/01/2020 20:07

Just go on asos and have a look at the hundreds of nice dresses on there. Belly out at a wedding isn’t a good look.

SnackBadger · 07/01/2020 18:39

Something like this perhaps?
