Cleaning Superga Canvas Shoes

Winglessvulture · 04/01/2020 20:01

I have a pair of light grey Superga Canvas shoes that I love, but that are getting a bit grubby...

I thought that they might be machine washable, but Google suggests that is not the case so I am hoping that someone else has washed a pair successfully and can give me some tips! TIA

I chuck mine in the washing machine but on 30 wash (hot water will destroy the glue) along with old towels that I use for the dog.

Same here. Quick wash at low temperature with a couple of towels in.

Probably not recommended but I've washed canvas trainers in the machine on a delicate cycle.

I've been washing trainers for 30 years in the washing machine . They are always fine !

Thanks everyone. I have washed normal trainers in the machine before but was worried about whether the canvas would take it. Cool wash with something to pad it out seems the way to go. Thanks so much Smile

Canvas is more washable than leather trainers if anything . I also add vanish and they come up super clean .

I wish I had used Crep Protect on mine first but didnt find out it ntil after thye got grubby.

Mine are a light flowered colour and they come up ok in the machine. Ive also used cream cleaner on the white bits on the bottom and they come up really bright

I'm sure mine said on the box that you can machine wash them. I haven't yet but machine wash my converse all the time.

They survived the wash, but think I will try adding a scoop of vanish next time. I will have a go at the white bits with some cre cleaner once they are dry as that is the bit that is still looking a bit off colour - thanks for that tip Smile
