Really effective top coat for nail varnish?

Can anyone recommend a top coat that really works to protect against chipping, please? My nails always look scruffy after a day or so.

@TattiePants the nails inc is a great one too and doesn't thicken anywhere near as much as the Seche!

I've always used Essie nail varnish but got a set of Nails Inc nail varnishes from QVC last month and I've been really impressed with them. Fingers crossed I like the topcoat just as much!
