Stylish waterproof coat ideas

Is there such a thing as a stylish anorak??

I am looking for a fairly waterproof but reasonably smart and stylish coat that I can wear on the school run/out and about at the weekend but also to work over a fairly corporate outfit.

I walk a lot so need something not too hot, but also somewhat waterproof/water resistant. Nothing too bulky, ideally bum length or longer rather than short jacket.

Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Does anyone have any views on Seasalt? Do they look OK on?

Have a look at Rains (of Denmark) or for a more pricey option, Kassl Editions.

Both great suggestions that I haven't come across, thank you!

Have you tried Protected Species? Lovely, stylish and waterproof but can be pricey.

Second the Protected Species recommendation. Bought the Mac last time they did a 40% discount on Mumsnet and it has been such a good investment. Lightweight but completely waterproof and very simple, classic look. Their customer service is also second to none.

I love my Seasalt Janelle coat - warm, waterproof and stylish enough to prompt compliments from three people in the last week 👍🏻

I have a seasalt plant hunter and really like it

Didrikson are practical and very waterproof. Whether they are stylish is something I will leave to others to decide.

I love my Mackintosh if you’re looking to invest - they last a lifetime. Sale on at the moment too www.mackintosh.com/gb/woman

Another vote for Protected Species from me

I ordered a few different seasalt ones, wondering if they would fit the bill - sounds like we are after the same thing. They were quite frumpy on, felt very functional but not smart enough to wear for work or anywhere that wasn't totally casual. I'm going to try some of the others suggested above

Another protected species fan

Try rockholly. It's not warm but beautifully made and washes well. Lasted me through a couple of Yorkshire winters with a uniqlo lightweight puffer underneath. That said I've been searching for a warmer one to solve with the warmth issue to no avail!

FiresideTreats · 07/01/2020 08:49

I've got a rockholly too and had loads of compliments on it.
