Better result at hairdressers?

My hair has a lot of coppery warm tones (light/mid) brown at the moment which I to eliminate. I tried a light ash brown semi box dye a few weeks ago, which muted the warms tones a little bit (not as much as I would have liked) at first but obviously the colour has almost washed up now. I’m a bit reluctant to try a different brand of semi as none really describe their colours as ‘ash’. I don’t want to get a darker ash brown in case it comes out black! So I’m thinking of going to a hairdressers, I’m assuming they will have much more options as in terms of ash browns & the result should be longer-lasting (haven’t decided if I want to go permanent or not).
