New boots

My favourite boots broke just before Christmas so I invested in some nice leather knew high boots in the sale. I absolutely love them but wore them once and they have given me horrible blisters in the heel. Im gutted as they were very pricey and now I'm scared to wear them again?

What can I do to break these in - any suggestions?

Put an extra pair of thick socks on and wear around the house. Buy the special blister plasters for when you have to go out. Try to wear only on short trips initially, supermarket or dinner. They'll loosen up with some time and wear!

Cover them with a thick towel and hit the bit that rubs with a hammer. Rub some old fashioned dubbin in.
Fill a plastic bag with water, tie a tight knot, put it in your boot and put the whole thing in the freezer.

Stuff them with screwed up balls of newspaper overnight.
