At home microneedling. Anyone had any results?

I’ve just bought a 0.5mm roller that I’ve used once. Not hugely painful and I really do feel like my skin looks better after one use, which is know is just impossible.

Has anyone had any visible benefits using one? Do I need longer/shorter needles?

My main issues are jowls starting to form (I’m only 31 ffs) marionette lines and general skin tone. Any other recs gladly welcomed!!!

I don’t know OP but interested to hear others’ views. I’ve got myself a 0.25 roller as I read that was the best to start with for face but I’m sure 0.5 is fine if it doesn’t feel too painful etc.

I have also hear it can be good for stretch marks etc so I want to get a longer one to try on my stomach.

MustardScreams · 02/01/2020 22:30

@BunnytheBlueWhale I watched a YouTube video of a woman with really severe stretch marks and loose skin on her stomach after birth and she did 6 months of microneedling (much larger needle though) and the results were bananas!

I’m hoping it does something at least! I’ll keep you updated as I use it if you like.

I've read a lot about at home microneedling being damaging for skin. Hoping that this is wrong because I would love to give it a try!

For salon type treatments i think its supposed to be on the third session that results start to show?

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/01/2020 22:37

@MustardScreams Was it Bubzbeauty by any chance? I think that might be what I saw.

I might just try mine tomorrow 😬

@Dawglover I think it’s okay (from what I’ve read) if you use a small needle and follow the instructions but obviously you’ve got to make sure the roller and instructions come from a reputable source

Keep us updated and I will let you know how I get on!

I definitely look fresher and plumper (facially that is)after using mine at home. My main issue is marionette lines too and I feel they have improved.

BigButtons · 02/01/2020 22:46

I had rollers, now got an electric pen- much much better results!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/01/2020 22:46

What’s an electric pen @BigButtons?

MustardScreams · 02/01/2020 22:49

Ooh yes what’s an electric pen?! Does it work for jowls?

@gaggiagirl what size needle do you use? And which serum? I’ve been using the ordinary vitamin c cream before and the hyaluronic acid after.

I do face exercises from YouTube which have totally sorted my marionette lines. Look up facial fitnez.

MustardScreams · 02/01/2020 22:53

@Ohyesiam ooh! Good shout, thank you!

How long do you spend doing them?

@BunnytheBlueWhale basically it’s derma needles which move in and out of a pen like device. You select the speed and depth and just hold it against your skin soooo much better than traditional rollers. I have individual needle heads as well so I can really target individual lines and heads with more needles for bigger areas. I can change the depth depending on the part of my face I am treating.

BigButtons · 02/01/2020 22:57

@MustardScreams face exercises for jowls-they will really work! I follow a woman on you tube. Her Chanel is called face aerobics.

Ohyesiam · 02/01/2020 22:57

Her video on YouTube is 32 mins, but she fafs for about 10 mins at the end.
So I do 20 mins about 3 times a week.
It’a a commitment, but I am quite vain!

BunnytheBlueWhale · 02/01/2020 23:04

Ooh face exercises 🤔

MustardScreams · 03/01/2020 00:01

I am loving the sound of face exercises, thanks @Ohyesiam!

@MustardScreams I use the same size needle as yourself and no 7 hyaluronic serum as my stuff from the ordinary recently ran out.
