I'm after a really nice work dress. Ideally black to suit an hourglass shape. I normally shop in phase eight but have been looking at winser London miracle dresses .. any one bought one of these? Are they worth the money?

I have three Winser dresses now (mine all bought on Ebay) and they are great. Very flattering and easy to wear

Thanks @CMOTDibbler how are they size wise? I'm normally a 14

They come up a bit big imo

I’m a similar size and Hobbs always has something smart. They tend to have two styles, with the shorter ones being a good fit. However I often buy something too long and have it taken up. Most Hobbs have this service.

Failing that John Lewis own brand of workwear can sometimes hit the mark, and also LK Bennett. You have to hunt for the plainer dresses. Their jackets are fantastic though.

The other place is The Fold. I don’t have one of their dresses but I’ve heard good things about them.

LK Bennet and Reiss have good finds. The Reiss Hartley dress is flattering. I add a belt and have the matching jacket but also wear with cardigan and coat/Chanel style M&S dupe jacket etc. Reiss can come up small.

I love Damsel in a dress. Very flattering and great quality

Honourable mention for Diva Catwalk - I’ve got a couple of their “Seed” dresses that are very similar to Winser London but more style/colour options.

I use LK Bennett and Reiss for nice work wear. I like to buy quality items I can wear for years and the tailoring is great. Makes such a difference
I go into the stores and take about 20 things into the fitting room, they then will bring you stuff they think will suit you (I'm a size 6 and petite so a lot of stuff doesnt work on me, I get swamped in high street shops).
I've ended up with some lovely pieces.

I've bought a couple of The Fold dresses on Ebay and they are fantastic quality, even secondhand. Have decided I'd rather spend £50 ish on doing that than the same amount on something new. Providing they're not Dry Clean Only...
