Please tell me about your ‘essential’ long sleevers

I cannot for the life of me get it right.

I just want a couple of flattering long sleeve tops that I can tuck in and that have either a scoop or crew neck.

I’ve had a great primark one presumably made of plastic and nuclear waste that for some reason worked perfectly.

Please help!

I get the merino striped T-shirts from the Toast sale or for 100% cotton Muji are great and cheap.

FeigningHorror · 31/12/2019 15:26

I have some decent Baukjen jersey ones.

FruityWidow · 31/12/2019 17:28

Uniqlo

Following because I’ve been desperate for a good long sleeved scoop neck for ages. Everything seems too short on the body for me or weirdly high in the scoop neck, which is crap as I have big boobs and end up looking like Miss Trunchbull.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2019 17:39

Following because mind are on their last legs.

A JL one which is too thick and too short

A Benetton one which is nice but really thin

A Jaeger one which is why lay but double fronted, which I don't really like

Stay well away from M&S - sag on the neck after just one or two washes

Boden ones are too thick and the necks are too high

Going to try Jigsaw next, I think.

Gap are great! All of my long sleeved tops are from there.

Parker231 · 31/12/2019 17:44

I’ll second GAP. Wash well, keep their shape and colour and last forever.

mynameiscalypso · 31/12/2019 17:47

I have a really old M&S one which is perfect and I've never been able to find anything similar. I don't understand why it's so hard to make!

IndecentFeminist · 31/12/2019 18:09

Gap have some lovely thick ones. I buy the tall ones for extra length

Larach · 31/12/2019 18:36

Cos.

Fourthing Gap

Uniqulo. They have masses of long sleeved T shirts that last well in a variety of colours and necks

oohnicevase · 01/01/2020 08:17

Joules harbour tops hang nicely and some of the plain ones are ok .

borntobequiet · 01/01/2020 08:22

Merino wool long sleeved round necked base layer tops from Aldi, got them two years ago, really good quality, soft and wash well. I wear them as ordinary jumpers. Will get more when I next spot them, they were about £20 each. Bargain.

DontFundHate · 01/01/2020 08:39

Seasalt

I’ve got £30 tops like this from Hobbs and the £3.50 ones from Primark. I can’t see any difference whatsoever in quality, style, fit or durability. I have no doubt they are made in the same factory and that’s why I have two of the Hobbs ones and about 10 of the Primark ones. I just wish I’d found them first!

Primark also did a slash neck version for a while and I keep hoping they will bring it back. It’s very flattering as no one has fat clavicles!

TheWoodsareDarkandDeep · 01/01/2020 10:36

I like the primark cotton ones

BentNeckLady · 01/01/2020 10:38

Asda do 100% cotton white and black long sleeved tops 2 for £6. I wear them every day for work under jumpers. I’ve got some I’ve had 4 years and they wash really well.

Cynderella · 01/01/2020 11:18

I have Asda and Gap. Gap feel cosier and stretchier but are too long - should've got petite - especially the sleeves. Asda one fits perfectly, but feels thinner. I had three and only one left now because they laddered and had holes from normal wear and tear. That said, they lasted years. Gap often have genuine discounts across whole range, so they're good value.
