My very elderly mother needs to restock her wardrobe. She wants a wool or wool blend skirt of the sort she used to buy in the Edinburgh Woollen Mill, but EWM now seems (perversely) not to stock anything woollen and I can’t think where else to look. Can anyone suggest anywhere promising?

In Devon, Greenway is interesting. It's Agatha Christie's summer residence and it's like walking into the set of a Miss Marple adaptation.

My mother is nearly 90 and always extremely smart - mainly Hobbs, Pure Collection, M&S, John Lewis (just by walking around and identifying what she's looking for), actually a Warehouse dress today - high necked, long sleeved, long and in her colours. If I knew how to scribble out her face I would post a photograph to see if it's the kind of look you/she wants.

Hobbs, boden, Laura Ashley, try to catch the sales. Also look for those brands on ebay, skirts wear well and once dry cleaned will be good as new.
