Boring breton top thread

Thebabyhaslanded · 28/12/2019 12:25

I'm.just wondering if anyone has found any good breton tops this winter?

I used to use joules but they dont seem to wash as well now. I've seen some on sea salt but not sure of the quality so any recommendations and reviews would be helpful before I go buying.

Thanks!

I’ve had this one from Baukjen for two years and it’s amazing. Yes expensive but still looks new, washes amazingly, doesn’t need ironing. Just genuinely brilliant and currently on sale www.baukjen.com/collections/tops-tees/products/amelie-top-classic-navy-and-white-stripe

I have far too many Boden Breton tops most of which I've had for years though I bought a new one this year

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 28/12/2019 17:11

The one I don't recommend is Joules, I've bought so many and they've all shrunk!

DoOneAlready · 28/12/2019 17:46

Seasalt are very good.

Duckyneedsaclean · 28/12/2019 17:47

I find boden good.

Thebabyhaslanded · 28/12/2019 17:50

Thank you I've ordered a couple from seasalt and a boden one

I agree the joules harbour ones arent worth the money anymore

Another vote for boden!

IndecentFeminist · 28/12/2019 17:57

Uniqlo did a fab one a few years back that has only just died.

IndecentFeminist · 28/12/2019 17:57

And fat face

SuddenArborealStop · 28/12/2019 18:02

I don't find any of my fat face items wear well, the fade and get stiff quickly

Zinnia · 28/12/2019 19:45

Uniqlo ones are brilliant and only cost £12.90! Good thick cotton just like the French ones. They reissue every season I think, in classic and seasonal colours.

I also have a couple of lovely ones from Whistles that wash really well.

Best really are St James ones which I love but are on the pricey side.

XingMing · 28/12/2019 21:17

Armorlux, mine were about 30euros but are going strong 20 years on.

IndecentFeminist · 28/12/2019 21:27

Really? I've had great success with their Bretons. Can't speak for the rest of their stuff, it's got quite middle aged of late.

Doobigetta · 28/12/2019 22:15

The Boden essential boatneck top is better than their breton- it’s thicker, stretchier cotton. Much more comfortable. I find the bretons are too thin and there isn’t enough room in the sleeves.

BuffaloCauliflower · 28/12/2019 23:50

Agreed, I don’t like my Boden Breton and only reach for it when my Baukjen one is in the wash

Sooverthemill · 29/12/2019 09:32

My older Boden Bretons are definitely a different shape from the one I bought this year. Still good for me though

Viviene · 29/12/2019 17:11

Sezane have a version this season and their quality is very good.
I agree with the FatFace comment, their tops are not wearing well, same as Whitestuff.

MrsPerfect12 · 29/12/2019 23:32

Sugarhill is great.

Fochit · 30/12/2019 02:00

You’re right, they’re boring.

I’ve told DH to remind me never to wear one

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/01/2020 19:01

Crew clothing are my new favourite The Ultimate Breton is far superior to Joules harbour, and no shrinkage
I bought sea salt last year and the material was awful.... I've used better Tea towels
