Big ugly angry spot has appeared on my chin this morning. I felt it coming yesterday and did hot compresses which has brought it up.... now I need it gone without scarring by Tuesday, it's DH 50th and having a big party!

Tried and tested ideas this way please!!

Adapalene usually does the trick for me.

goldpendant · 28/12/2019 12:26

Where do I get some?!

Kate Somerville Eradikate spot treatment from SpaceNK, it really works!

fedup21 · 28/12/2019 13:17

You say that you’ve ‘brought it up’? Have you got the pus out?

TheDevilWearsPantsuits · 28/12/2019 13:18

The brand name's Differin and mine was prescribed to me by my derm. I wouldn't recommend it if you have no experience whatsoever with retinoids though. La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. is also pretty good IME.

Is it prescription only?

I just bought adapalene over the counter at Sainsburys,it has taken the throb out of it already, and the redness.

It has a head on it and I normally squeeze but then they go red, scabby, followed by dry and flaky. Grim

I can't risk a big scabby red scar

Blister plaster on it overnight and don't mess. This is what mumsnet advised before my wedding and it worked wonders!

I have cystic acne and the best thing to do is buy some zitsticka’s from Boots. They are hydrocolloid plaster but with little microdarts that pierce the very top layer of skin so that spot killing ingredients can penetrate into the spot. Unfortunately topical remedies won’t make it go quicker and if you apply anything too harsh you can make it go dry and it will look worse

goldpendant · 28/12/2019 17:43

Ooh ok plasters too. Like this idea. Too late to get to boots now but I can go tomorrow. Thanks all!

Definitely a vote for zitstickers!! Miracle workers. May need two nights using them on stubborn spots but they're fab.

goldpendant · 28/12/2019 19:00

Can I use zit stickas even when there's a head on it?

Goldpendant. If there’s a head on it then just use a regular hydrocolloid plaster (you can get them really cheap on amazon) and that will work. Make sure you leave it on overnight as they need a while to draw the gunk out

Zitstickers are expensive so just use them as soon as you feel a big spot developing. It will usually completely stop it in it’s tracks but if you can’t apply it that soon then the least it will do is speed up the healing process much quicker. By the time it has a head though, regular hydrocolloids are the best

goldpendant · 29/12/2019 14:29

Thanks! I got some zit stickas this morning and have one on now. Will do another tonight, or get some hydrocolloid ones. Thanks for all these tips!

I have an angry one on my chin. I never get spots and im putting this one down to crap eating/drinking. I haven’t changed my skincare routine.

It was just under the skin and i got fed up with the throbbing. So i pierced it (I know I know!) drew some blood and eventually pus, it was a relief! The found some antifungal cream in the drawer and pipped a dollop on and went to bed. Much better this morning!
