I am late 50s, retired early a couple of years ago and have realised all my makeup dates from when I was still working apart from mascara, and is starting go run out or look a bit tired. I have fair, dryish skin, pale eyebrows and the usual wrinkles with a few age spots appearing. I don't need to dress up for every day but do like to make an effort when I go out. I need some recommendations for good (cheapish) brands and colours of everything from concealer to lipstick. (PS I know this post would probably get some very helpful replies on Gransnet but I'm not quite ready to go there!)

I would try something like a subscription or sample service if I were you (something like Birchbox, glossybox, look incredible, look fantastic etc) to get lots of different brands/colour options and see how they work with your skin. There might be some beauty Advent calendars kicking around too which would work the same -

For your skin type /budget I would go for no7 initially and see if they can match you with A good base (CC, BB or foundation), or if you usually spend a little more on this then I love Clarins for my foundation, expect to pay £30+ though
