Alcohol and nails/hair relationship?

OK, it's a no brainer that booze isn't great for health but i'm asking because i always took a multi vit and a hair skin and nail suppliment. My diet hasn't changed nor have i increased water.

The only different thing i did was no booze for 3 months and my nails became much stronger, pink and i have so much baby hair growth.

In the past 3 weeks i got drunk a few times and and two nails snapped. It could be I wasn't careful or my body noticed a change that fast?

i'm going for a booze free 2020! But just curious what do you think my body was getting from a nutrient or something that made my nails grow strong and hair thicker? What was alcohol messing up with that affected hair and nail?

I've always understood that booze affects your ability to digest/take up the nutrients in your food.

Have you been eating the same in this period? Or maybe party food/hangover food with fewer vitamins than you would normally eat?

Plus I imagine the sugar content isn't good on that score either.

When i stopped the first 2 weeks i had a crappy diet then its almost like my palet changed i just didnt crave mcdonalds greasy breakfast or need bars of chocolate to keep going. The past 3 weeks when i returned to drinking my diet wasn't great. Yeah so i guess its the sugar and processed too. Since returning to drinking i have been so bloated, indigestion, heartburn and loudest stomach rumbles ever. I also feel so down. It's not good at all!

Alcohol really depletes b vitamins so it’s no surprise hair and nails are negatively affected.
I gave up booze 6 months ago and look like a different person - I was by no means a heavy drinker but the effects on my whole appearance have been astounding and a real motivation to remain booze-free. It took about 3 months for my skin to get fully to where it is now - very even-toned, smooth and glowy. Before, I still had rosacea and chin outbreaks despite being on prescription medication for both.
I feel great and look the best I have in years so much so, it was no hardship forgoing the festive booze-bath yesterday.

I haven’t drank in nearly 2 years other than the very very occasional small glass of wine - maybe 3 in 21 months - and I don’t really look any better for it imo. Have seen no physical benefits that I can notice. 😩

I didn’t notice a change in my hair when I quit drinking but my nails are so much better.

I often go 8 weeks or so without a drink- I tend only to drink when I have a week off work- and I never see a difference in my hair or nails when I'm off the booze. maybe 8 weeks isn't long enough though?
