I have bought my husband and myself afternoon tea at a posh hotel.
What would you wear? I dont want to turn up looking too casual.
I have this skirt and was thinking a black bardot jumper?

That's absolutely fine. It's not a very dressy affair ime even at posh places. Have fun!

Lovely. I really like that skirt.

DP has arranged afternoon tea for us as part of my Christmas present. I think I'm going to wear a midi dress and heeled ankle boots. I've got a couple of lovely 'dressy' dresses, but think they'll be a bit OTT.

If it's the Ritz, I've quite often (get me! Sounds like I am there all the time, which I'm not) seen groups of women dressed as if for weddings. Most people who don't go in big groups tend to dress more normally and your outfit in the photo looks perfect. I wouldn't wear jeans if one of the big hotels but otherwise it doesn't need to be too fancy. Having said that, it's nice to dress up for a special occasion and that skirt is nice and understated glam.

Other key tip for dressing for afternoon tea is the loose or elasticated waist! Did you know that you can ask for extras of EVERYTHING?!

Thanks everyone, its not at The Ritz (would be nice if it was) its at The Hilton in Manchester.
I am looking for a nice dress, but if I cant find one, then the above outfit is it!

The above is appropriate, nothing dressier. Have a lovely time 😊

That skirt's lovely, where's it from? Enjoy your tea!

BiteyShark · 27/12/2019 10:02

That skirt is lovely (and appropriate for the occasion) and I don't usually like skirts.

Loveagoodbook · 27/12/2019 15:13

Thank you 😁
NuzzleandScratch it was from Next, earlier in the year.

Afternoon tea tends to be relaxed. I would suggest wearing something that has room to expand around the tummy area as you will likely feel stuffed afterwards.
